ANKARA, (SANA) — Secretary General of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Friday that the NATO doesn’t intend to intervene in Syria even if authorization is issued for what he called “protecting civilians.”

In an interview with Reuters during a visit to Turkey, Rasmussen said he rejected the possibility of providing any provisions or supplies to support the so-called “humanitarian passages,” saying that the NATO doesn’t intend to intervene in Syria in any case.

On whether the NATO stance will change in case an authorization is issued by the UN in a manner similar to Libya, Rasmussen dismissed the possibility because Syria’s society is different from Libya in its ethnic, political and religious aspects, which is why he believes that a regional solution should be reached.
