The battle of Damascus has begun

Western and Gulf powers have launched the largest secret war operation since the Contra war in Nicaragua. The Battle of Damascus is not intended to topple President Bashar al-Assad, but to fracture the Syrian Army to better ensure the domination of Israel and the U.S. over the Middle East. While the city is bracing for a new assault by foreign mercenaries, Thierry Meyssan takes stock of the situation.

Over the past five days Washington and Paris have launched an attack operation dubbed “Damascus Volcano and Syrian Earthquake.” It is not a new campaign of aerial bombardment, but a secret military operation, similar to the one used in Central America during the Reagan era.

Within a few days, 40 to 60 000 Contras, mostly Libyans, entered the country, most often via the Jordanian border. The majority of them are attached to the “Syrian” Free Army, a secret operations front for NATO under Turkish command. Some are affiliated with groups of fanatics, including Al-Qaeda, under Qatar’s command or factions of the Saudi Royal Family, the Sudairi. Along the way, they took some border posts, and then moved to the capital where they have sown confusion by attacking random targets: police groups or isolated military.

Syrian Generals Hassan Turkmani, Daud Rajha and Assef Chawkat died on the field of honor on 18 July 2012.

Wednesday morning, an explosion destroyed National Security headquarters where some members of the National Security Council were meeting. It cost the lives of General Daoud Rajha (Defence Minister), of General Assef Shawkat (Deputy Minister) and of General Hassan Turkmani (Assistant Vice President of the Republic). The mode of attack remains uncertain: it could have been either a suicide bomber or a stealth drone.

Washington hoped that the partial decapitation of the military would lead some senior officers to defect with their units, or even to turn against the civilian government. This has not happened. President Bashar al-Assad immediately signed decrees appointing successors to the fallen heroes and the seamless continuity of the state was ensured.

In Paris, Berlin and Washington, sponsors of the operation continued their unworthy game of condemning terrorist action while reaffirming their political and logistical support for the terrorists. Shamelessly, they concluded that the responsibility for these killings lay not with the culprits, but with the victims in that they had refused to resign under pressure and surrender their homeland to western rapacity.

Caracas and Tehran have sent their condolences to Syria, stressing that the attack was sponsored and funded by Western and Gulf powers Moscow has also expressed condolences and affirmed that requesting Security Council’s sanctions against Syria amounted to political support for the attacking terrorists.

National television channels have begun to broadcast military clips and patriotic songs several times per hour. Interrupting programs, the Information Minister al-Omran Zou’bi called for the mobilization of everyone: the time for political disputes between government and opposition is over. The enemy is at the gates. Referring to my Komsomolskaya Pravda article [1], he warned his countrymen of the imminent launch of the propaganda operation prepared by Gulf and Western channels in order to demoralize the people. Then, he put the lie to Gulf network propaganda according to which a mutiny had broken out in the fourth division and explosions had devastated its main barracks.

National channels have aired public service announcements several times hourly showing how to capture authentic programs on Atlantic Bird in case Arabsat and Nilesat satellites were interrupted.

In Lebanon, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah recalled the brotherhood of arms uniting Hezbollah and Syria against Zionist expansionism, and assured the Syrian Army of its support.

The bomb attack was the signal for the second part of the operation. Commandos infiltrated the capital, then attacked various more or less chosen targets. Thus, a group of about a hundred Contras attacked the house adjacent to my apartment in the cry of Allah Akbar. A senior military official resides there. Ten hours of uninterrupted fighting ensued.

Whereas at the beginning of the night, the Army responded with measure , the order was later given to use force without restraint. It was no longer a question of fighting against terrorists destabilizing Syria, but of saving the country facing an undeclared alien invasion.

Aircraft went into action to destroy columns of mercenaries heading to the capital.

By late morning, calm was gradually returning to the city. The Contras and their collaborators were forced to withdraw everywhere. Traffic was resuming on major roads, and checkpoints were installed in the city center. Life was returning to normal. However, we still hear scattered gunfire here and there. Most businesses are closed, and there are long queues outside bakeries.

Everyone expects that the final assault will be launched on the night of Thursday to Friday and all day Friday. There is no doubt that the Syrian army will emerge victorious again, the power relationship being to its advantage. The conscript army is supported by the population, including the domestic political opposition.

As expected, Arabsat and Nilesat had disconnected the Ad-Dunya television signal in the middle of the afternoon. The Twitter account of Ad-Dounia has been hacked by the CIA in order to disseminate false messages announcing a retreat of the Syrian Army.

Gulf channels have announced a currency collapse prelude to the downfall of the State. The Governor of the Central Bank, Adib Mayaleh, intervened on national television to denounce the new disinformation and confirm the exchange rate of 68.30 Syrian pounds per U.S. dollar.

Reinforcements have been deployed around the Umayyads Square to protect public television studios considered a priority target for all enemies of freedom. Replacement studios have been installed in the Rose of Damascus Hotel where United Nations observers are basking. The presence of these officials, who allowed the perpetration of this attack on the capital without interrupting their idleness, is the de facto protection for Syrian journalists risking their lives attempting to inform their fellow citizens.

At the Security Council, Russia and China have for the third time vetoed a draft Western and Gulf resolution to enable international military intervention. Russian and Chinese representatives have tirelessly denounced propaganda aimed at portraying the foreign attack against Syria as a revolt repressed with bloodshed.

The Battle of Damascus is expected to resume tonight.

40-60000 Contras, soprattutto libici, sono arrivati in pochi giorni nel paese, il più delle volte dal confine giordano. La maggior parte di loro sono aggregati all’esercito libero “siriano”, struttura paravento delle operazioni segrete della NATO, posta sotto il comando turco. Alcuni sono affiliati a gruppi di fanatici, tra cui al-Qaida, posti sotto il comando del Qatar o della fazione della famiglia reale saudita dei Sudeiri. Tra l’altro, hanno preso alcuni posti di frontiera, e poi si sono trasferiti nella capitale, dove hanno seminato confusione attaccando dei bersagli casuali che trovavano: gruppi di poliziotti o militari isolati.

Mercoledì mattina, una esplosione ha distrutto il quartier generale della Sicurezza Nazionale, dove si incontravano alcuni membri del Consiglio di Sicurezza Nazionale. Avrebbe ucciso il Generale Daoud Rajha (Ministro della Difesa), il Generale Assef Shawkat (Viceministro) e il Generale Hassan Turkmani (sostituto Vicepresidente della Repubblica). Le modalità dell’operazione rimangono incerte: potrebbe essere stato un attentatore suicida o il lancio da un drone stealth.

Washington spera che la decapitazione parziale dell’apparato militare induca alcuni alti ufficiali a disertare con le loro unità, o addirittura a rivoltarsi contro il governo civile. Non è accaduto nulla. Il presidente Bashar al-Assad ha immediatamente firmato i decreti di nomina dei loro successori e la continuità dello Stato è stata garantita impeccabilmente.

A Parigi, Berlino e Washington, i mandanti dell’operazione si sono scatenati nella squallida farsa della condanna delle azioni terroristiche, mentre riaffermano il proprio sostegno politico e logistico militare ai terroristi. Senza vergogna, hanno concluso che la responsabilità di questi omicidi non era dei colpevoli, ma delle vittime che avevano rifiutato di dimettersi sotto pressione e di consegnare la loro patria agli appetiti occidentali.

Caracas e Teheran hanno inviato le loro condoglianze alla Siria, sottolineando che l’attentato è stato commissionato e finanziato dalle potenze occidentali e del Golfo. Anche Mosca ha espresso le sue condoglianze e ha detto che le sanzioni richieste del Consiglio di Sicurezza contro la Siria, equivalgono al sostegno politico dei terroristi che l’attaccano.

In Libano, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ha ricordato la fratellanza d’armi che unisce Hezbollah alla Siria contro l’espansionismo sionista, ed ha assicurato l’esercito siriano sul suo sostegno.

L’attentato è il segnale della seconda parte dell’operazione. I commando infiltratisi nella capitale hanno poi attaccato diversi obiettivi, più o meno scelti. Così, un gruppo di 100 Contras ha attaccato la casa adiacente al mio appartamento, al grido di Allah Akbar! Un alto funzionario militare vi risiedeva. Dieci ore di combattimento ininterrotto vi hanno fatto seguito. Considerando che, all’inizio della notte, l’esercito reagiva con misura, l’ordine veniva restaurato con più ritardo che usando la forza indiscriminatamente. Non si trattava più di combattere contro dei terroristi giunti per destabilizzare la Siria, ma di affrontare un’invasione straniera occulta, e di salvare la patria in pericolo.

L’aviazione è entrata in azione per distruggere le colonne dei mercenari diretti verso la capitale.

In tarda mattinata, è tornata la calma a poco a poco in città. I Contras ed i loro collaboratori sono stati dappertutto costretti a ritirarsi. Il traffico è stato restaurato sulle strade principali, e degli sbarramenti sono stati installati nel centro della città. La vita riprendeva. Tuttavia, ancora si sentono degli spari sparsi qua e là. La maggior parte delle attività sono chiuse, e ci sono lunghe code davanti alle panetterie.

Tutti si aspettano che l’assalto finale venga lanciato nella notte di giovedì e venerdì, e per tutto il giorno di venerdì. Non c’è dubbio che l’esercito siriano uscirà vittorioso ancora una volta, perché il rapporto di potenza è a suo vantaggio, e che l’esercito di leva sia sostenuto dalla popolazione, compresa l’opposizione politica interna.

Come previsto, Arabsat e Nilesat hanno scollegato il segnale televisivo di al-Dunya nel bel mezzo del pomeriggio. L’account Twitter di al-Dounia è stato dirottato dalla CIA, per diffondere dei falsi messaggi che annunciano il ritiro dell’esercito siriano.

Rinforzi sono stati dispiegati intorno alla piazza degli Omayyadi per proteggere gli studi televisivi pubblici, che sono considerati un obiettivo prioritario per tutti i nemici della libertà. Degli studi di ricambio sono stati installati presso l’hotel Rosa di Damasco, dove si crogiolano gli osservatori delle Nazioni Unite. La presenza di coloro che hanno lascito perpetrare l’attacco alla capitale, senza interrompere la loro pigrizia, serve da protezione de facto dei giornalisti siriani che cercano di informare i loro concittadini che rischiano la vita.

Al Consiglio di Sicurezza, Russia e Cina si sono opposte per la terza volta ponendo il veto a una bozza di risoluzione occidentale e del Golfo, volta a rendere possibile un intervento militare internazionale. I loro rappresentanti hanno instancabilmente denunciato la propaganda volta a far passare l’attacco straniero contro la Siria per una rivolta repressa nel sangue. La battaglia di Damasco dovrebbe riprendere stasera.

Les puissances occidentales et du Golfe ont lancé la plus importante opération de guerre secrète depuis celle des Contras au Nicaragua. La bataille de Damas ne vise pas à renverser le président Bachar el-Assad, mais à fracturer l’Armée syrienne pour mieux assurer la domination d’Israël et des États-Unis au Proche-Orient. Alors que la ville s’apprête à un nouvel assaut des mercenaires étrangers, Thierry Meyssan dresse le point de la situation.

Voici cinq jours que Washington et Paris ont lancé l’opération « Volcan de Damas et séisme de la Syrie ». Il ne s’agit pas d’une nouvelle campagne de bombardements aériens, mais d’une opération de guerre secrète, comparable à celle conduite à l’époque Reagan en Amérique centrale.

40 à 60 000 Contras, principalement libyens, sont entrés en quelques jours dans le pays, le plus souvent par la frontière jordanienne. La majorité d’entre eux sont rattachés à l’Armée « syrienne » libre, structure paravent des opérations secrète de l’OTAN, placée sous commandement turc. Certains sont affiliés à des groupes de fanatiques, dont Al-Qaida, placés sous commandement du Qatar ou d’une faction de la famille royale saoudienne, les Sudeiris. Au passage, ils ont pris quelques postes frontières, puis ont rejoint la capitale où ils ont semé la confusion en attaquant au hasard les cibles qu’ils trouvaient : groupes de policiers ou de militaires isolés.

Mercredi matin, une explosion a détruit le siège de la Sécurité nationale où se réunissaient quelques membres du Conseil de sécurité nationale. Elle aurait coûté la vie au général Daoud Rajha (ministre de la Défense), au général Assef Chawkat (ministre adjoint) et au général Hassan Turkmani (adjoint du vice-président de la République). Les modalités de l’opération restent incertaines : il pourrait s’agir aussi bien d’un attentat suicide que d’un tir de drone furtif.

Washington espérait que la décapitation partielle de l’appareil militaire conduirait quelques officiers supérieurs à faire défection avec leurs unités, voire à se retourner contre le gouvernement civil. Il n’en a rien été. Le président Bachar el-Assad a immédiatement signé les décrets nommant leurs successeurs et la continuité de l’État a été assurée sans faille.

À Paris, Berlin et Washington, les commanditaires de l’opération se sont livrés au jeu indigne consistant à condamner l’action terroriste tout en réaffirmant leur soutien politique et logistique militaire aux terroristes. Sans honte, ils ont conclu que la responsabilité de ces assassinats ne revenait pas aux coupables, mais aux victimes en ce qu’elles avaient refusé de démissionner sous leur pression et de livrer leur patrie aux appétits occidentaux.

Caracas et Téhéran ont adressé leur condoléances à la Syrie, soulignant que l’attaque a été commanditée et financée et par les puissances occidentales et du Golfe. Moscou a également adressé ses condoléances et affirmé que les sanctions requises au Conseil de sécurité contre la Syrie équivalaient à un soutien politique aux terroristes qui l’attaquent.

Les chaînes de télévision nationales se sont mises à diffuser des clips militaires et des chants patriotiques. Interrompant les programmes, le ministre de l’Information Omran al-Zou’bi a appelé à la mobilisation de tous : le moment n’est plus aux querelles politiques entre gouvernement et opposition, c’est la Nation qui est attaquée. Rappelant l’article de Komsomolskaïa Pravda dans lequel je décrivais l’opération médiatique de démoralisation préparée par les chaînes occidentales et du Golfe [1], il a alerté ses concitoyens sur son déclenchement imminent. Puis, il a démenti l’intox des chaînes du Golfe selon lesquelles une mutinerie aurait éclaté au sein de la 4ème division et des explosions auraient dévasté sa principale caserne.

Les chaînes nationales ont diffusé plusieurs fois par heure des bandes-annonces indiquant comment capter leurs programmes sur Atlantic Bird en cas d’interruption des satellites ArabSat et NileSat.

Au Liban, sayyed Hassan Nasrallah a rappelé la fraternité d’armes qui unit le Hezbollah à la Syrie face à l’expansionnisme sioniste, et a assuré l’Armée syrienne de son soutien.

L’attentat a été le signal de la seconde partie de l’opération. Les commandos infiltrés dans la capitale ont alors attaqué diverses cibles, plus ou moins choisies. Ainsi, un groupe d’une centaine de Contras a attaqué la maison qui jouxte mon appartement au cri d’Allah Akbar !. Un haut responsable militaire y réside. Dix heures de combat ininterrompu ont suivies.

Alors qu’au début de la nuit, l’Armée ripostait avec mesure, l’ordre parvenait un peu plus tard de faire usage de la force sans retenue. Il ne s’agissait plus de lutter contre des terroristes venus déstabiliser la Syrie, mais de faire face à une invasion étrangère qui ne dit pas son nom et de sauver la patrie en danger.

L’aviation est entrée en action pour anéantir les colonnes de mercenaires se dirigeant vers la capitale.

En fin de matinée, le calme revenait progressivement dans l’agglomération. Les Contras et leurs collaborateurs étaient partout obligés de se retirer. La circulation était rétablie sur les grands axes routiers, et des barrages filtrants étaient installés dans le centre ville. La vie reprenait. Cependant, on entend encore des tirs épars ici ou là. La plupart des commerces sont fermés, et il y a de longues files d’attente devant les boulangeries.

Chacun s’attend à ce que l’assaut final soit lancé dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi et la journée de vendredi. Il ne fait guère de doute que l’Armée syrienne en sortira à nouveau victorieuse car le rapport de force est tout à son avantage, et que cette armée de conscription est soutenue par la population, y compris par l’opposition politique intérieure.

Comme prévu, ArabSat et NileSat ont déconnecté le signal de la télévision Ad-Dounia en milieu d’après-midi. Le compte Twitter d’Ad-Dounia a été piraté par la CIA pour diffuser de faux messages annonçant une retraite de l’Armée syrienne.

Les chaînes du Golfe ont annoncé un effondrement de la monnaie préludant la chute de l’État. Le gouverneur de la Banque centrale, Adib Mayaleh, est intervenu sur la télévision nationale pour démentir cette nouvelle intox et confirmer le taux de change de 68,30 livres syriennes pour un dollar US.

Des renforts ont été déployés aux alentours de la place des Omeyyades pour protéger les studios de la télévision publique qui sont considérés comme une cible prioritaire par tous les ennemis de la liberté. Des studios de remplacement ont été installés dans l’hôtel Rose de Damas où se prélassent les observateurs des Nations Unies. La présence de ceux-ci, qui ont laissé perpétrer l’attaque de la capitale sans interrompre leur farniente, sert de facto de protection pour les journalistes syriens qui tentent d’informer leurs concitoyens au péril de leur vie.

Au Conseil de sécurité, la Fédération de Russie et la Chine ont opposé pour la troisième fois leur veto à une proposition de résolution occidentale et du Golfe visant à rendre possible une intervention militaire internationale. Leurs représentants ont inlassablement dénoncé la propagande visant à faire passer l’attaque extérieure contre la Syrie comme une révolte réprimée dans le sang.

La bataille de Damas devrait reprendre cette nuit.
