Syrian president Assad says government is winning the fight against the rebels and the situation ‘is better’ in war-torn country

President Bashar al-Assad said talk of a Western-imposed buffer zone on Syrian territory was unrealistic and that the situation in his country ‘is better’, but more time is needed to win the conflict against rebels .

Assad was speaking in an interview with Syrian Addounia television, excerpts of which were broadcast by the station today.

The president, responding to rumours concerning his whereabouts since a July bombing in Damascus, said he was speaking from the presidential palace in the capital

He said: ‘I believe that talk about a buffer zone is not practical, even for those countries which are playing a hostile role [against Syria].’

Neighbouring Turkey has floated the idea of a ‘safe zone’ to be set up for civilians under foreign protection as fighting has intensified in the 17-month-old uprising.

Assad said: ‘Syria is engaged in a regional and global battle….The situation, practically, is better but it has not been resolved.

‘I tell the Syrian people that the fate of Syria is in their hands.’

Bashar al-Assad: I believe the case is a battle of wills The battle is a battle of wills
but i can abbreviate all of this explanation is one sentence:
We are advancing forward, the situation practically is better The Syrian People The answer in short: i tell the Syrian people the destiny of Syria is in your hands The Army and Armed Forces This army & the armed forces including police & security are doing heroic jobs in all the meanings of the word Terrorism If there is a Syrian citizen who knows a hesitating person among those (Terrorists) who has a will to defect (from them)… should encourage him Misleading Media

Q: The president should appear daily on TVs to prevent rumors from spreading, where are you now Mr. President?

Bashar al-Assad: I’m with you now, in the presidential palace in Damascus ;)
From the Presidential Palace:
First, I believe talking about Buffer Zones does not practically exist.
Secondly, unrealistic even for those countries which are conducting a hostile or opponent role
Despite lots of mistakes that exist there is a tight bond between the policies of this state & this people’s believe.

The patriotic and good person doesn’t run away from his country Practically this is a good process…this is a self-internal cleansing for the state first then for the country in general.
Special meeting with Mr. Bashar al Assad president of Syrian Arab Republic.
The patriotic and good person doesn’t run away from his country Practically this is a positive process, it’s a self-internal cleansing for the state first then for the country in general. Everybody is worried about their nation and this is a normal worry… but they add fear in one way or another this is something they will not absolutely achieve

The answer in short: I tell the Syrian People “the destiny of Syria is in your hands, not in anybody else handsbut i can abbreviate all of this explanation in one sentence:
We are advancing forward, the situation practically is better, but the military settlement, this needs some time.
Do we go backwards because of the ignorance of some Turkish officials?
We look at the relationwith the Turkish people especially that they stood beside us practically during the crisis, they weren’t drifted in spite of media and monetary flooding…
First, I believe talking about Buffer Zones does not practically exist.
Secondly, unrealistic even for those countries which are conducting a hostile or opponent role In fact Syria does not need a green light in matters of sovereignty, local & national issues not from its friends nor from its enemies, norfrom its oppenents.
This wide base of the people is the one protecting the country.
From this people, the most important category that let this country steadfast, no doubt it’s the Armed Forces.
