Syrian troops kill 17 foreign-backed insurgents in Aleppo.

Syrian government troops have killed 17 foreign-backed insurgents in the flashpoint city of Aleppo as heavy fighting continues between the two sides, Press TV reports.

The Syrian Army conducted the operation in the city’s al-Azizia district on Sunday, a day after the army purged the city’s al-Amiriyeh district of armed rebels fighting government forces.

Meanwhile, a large number of people also held a demonstration in the area on Sunday in support of the army and thanked the national forces for clearing more and more areas from the foreign-sponsored armed men.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian soldiers discovered a stockpile of weapons hidden in a drainage canal in Damascus.

On Saturday, the United States announced that it would allocate an additional $45 million to foreign-backed armed groups fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.

Western states have been calling for Assad to step down. However, Russia and China are strongly opposed to the Western drive to oust Assad.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the armed militants are foreign nationals, mostly from Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan.

Truppe governative siriane hanno ucciso 17 mercenari stranieri nella città di Aleppo, mentre pesanti combattimenti continuano tra l’Esercito Nazionale Siriano e mercenari infiltrati nel paese.

L’Esercito Nazionale Siriano ha condotto l’operazione nel distretto della città di al-Azizia, domenica, il giorno dopo che l’esercito aveva bonificato il distretto della città di al-Amiriyeh dove ribelli armati avevano attaccato le forze governative.

Nel frattempo, un gran numero di persone ha anche tenuto una manifestazione nella zona a sostegno dell’esercito ed ha ringraziato le forze nazionali per lo sminamento della zona operato dagli uomini armati stranieri, mercenari finanziati dall’estero.

All’inizio della giornata, i soldati siriani hanno scoperto un arsenale di armi nascoste in un canale di scolo a Damasco.

Sabato scorso, gli Stati Uniti hanno annunciato che avrebbero assegnato un ulteriore finanziamento di 45 milioni di dollari (circa 35 milioni di euro, circa 70 miliardi di vecchie lire…) per i gruppi armati stranier che lottano contro il governo del presidente siriano Bashar al-Assad.

Gli stati occidentali hanno chiesto ad al-Assad a dimettersi. Tuttavia, la Russia e la Cina sono fortemente contrarie all’unità occidentale per cacciare al-Assad.

Il governo siriano dice che il caos è stato orchestrato da fuori potenze esterne al paese, e ci sono rapporti che un gran numero di militanti armati sono cittadini stranieri, per lo più da Egitto, Algeria, Arabia Saudita e Afghanistan.
