MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich stressed that the military choice does not solve the crisis in Syria, calling the Turkish Government ” to utilize its influence on the Syrian opposition with no parade in order to speed up the commencement of an internal Syrian dialogue without directing the situation to a dangerous route.
Russia Today Channel quoted Ukashevic as saying in a press conference on Thursday in comment on the request proposed by the Turkish government to deploy patriot missiles, ” it is obvious that such moves do not increase optimism …despite that, acts of all foreign players should be coordinated..let us not rush.”
He pointed out that the development of the situation, stemming from the Turkish request suggests that the matter reflects a reliable step.
He pointed out that Moscow is waiting to “see the reaction of the NATO partners,” reminding of Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov’s statements who said ” militarization of the Syrian-Turkish borders is a worrying sign.”
Ukashevic reiterated that the only way for overcoming the crisis in Syria and putting an end to the Syrian people’s tragedy is still represented by the Syrians’ search for a mechanism combining the authority and the opposition for ending bloodshed, preventing foreign intervention and making democratic reforms.
He added that Russia has helped that choice and will continue to support it.
Bogdanov: Syrian Opposition of National Coordination Body Delegation Visits Moscow on 28th and 29th of Current Month
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, said that a delegation of the opposition National Coordination Body for Democratic Change in Syria will visit Moscow on November 28th and 29th.
In a statement to Russia Today Channel, Bogdanov said that the delegation will pay the visit in response to an official invitation by the Russian side to discuss the latest developments regarding the crisis in Syria.
He added that the table of the talks is open to all opposition forces with on exclusions.
According to Russia Today Channel, the delegation is to meet the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, and his deputy, Mikhail Bogdanov.
Bogdanov to Turkish Official: Road to Resolve the Crisis in Syria through Geneva Statement
Later, Bogdanov underlined that the road to reach a resolution to the crisis in Syria passes through implementing Geneva Statement which provides for a full halt to the violence, launching a national comprehensive dialogue in a framework that enable the Syrian to determine their destiny.
Bogdanov ‘s remarks came during a meeting with the Turkish first deputy Foreign Minister Feridun Sinilioglu .
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the two sides stressed the need for coordinating the joint efforts between Russia and Turkey to find the political solution to the critical situation in Syria.
“Both sides expressed worry over the continued violence and the deterioration of the human situation and the rise in the number of displaced,” the Ministry added.
