China and Iran Call for Political Solution, with no Foreign Intervention to Solve Crisis in Syria
BEIJING, TEHRAN – China reiterated its support to the efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Li said at a press conference on Friday that Beijing calls upon all sides to take concrete measures to implement the Geneva statement which aims at reaching a just and peaceful solution to the crisis, as the international community agreed upon that statement.
Li added that China hopes that all concerned sides will work to reach this solution, noting that Beijing supports all efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful solution to the crisis and supports the efforts of the UN envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi.
Iran: Political Solution, Preventing Foreign Intervention are Only Choice to Solve Crisis in Syria
Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, said that the sides which are responsible for the bloodshed in Syria through interfering in its affairs are the same ones who are currently talking about the possibility of using chemical weapons in it.
In a press conference released on Friday, Abdullahian added that the political solution and preventing foreign intervention constitute the only way to solve the crisis in Syria.
Abdullahian stressed that Syria has overcome the security crisis, adding that some sides are seeking their own interests through sending weapons and accusing the Syrian government of possible use of chemical weapons.
He denounced the terrorist attacks committed in Syria, highlighting that the foreign intervention in Syria’s affairs poses risks to the country’s security.
