Syrian Human Rights Network Calls for International Conscience Awakening to Condemn Terrorist Acts
DAMASCUS, 14/12/2012(SANA)- The Syrian Human Rights Network demanded that the UN Security Council and the UN Organization assume their responsibilities to confront the crimes being committed by the terrorists against the citizens in Syria according to the UN Charter and Resolution 1373 on combating terrorism.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Network called for conscience awakening on the part of the international community and its institutions, particularly the UNICEF, in harmony with the principles of the International Humanitarian Law.
It hoped that these international bodies have the courage to condemn the acts of killing and human rights violations practiced by the terrorist groups in Syria.
While denouncing the terrorist acts which have recently taken place in Damascus and its countryside and claimed the lives of scores of citizens, including children, the Network stressed the need that the human rights organizations assume responsibility to expose these terrorist acts.
It also called upon these organizations, foremost the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council, to condemn these criminal practices and work on pursuing the perpetrators to hold them to account.
The statement highlighted the importance for media outlets to provide balanced reports on the suffering of children, civilians and all spectrums of the Syrian society, warning against the continued fabrications and misleading “which would turn the world into a scene for terrorist acts and make it drown in a bloodbath.”
