The Syrian parliament issued a statement on President Bashar al-Assad’s political plan for ending the Syrian unrest.
The statement, signed by the Parliament speaker, supported president’s program for a dialogue among all Syrians and respect for Syria’s sovereignty and independence.
It also said a conspiracy is targeting Syria, expressing support to the Syrian army’s operations against foreign backed insurgents.
The parliament has formed a committee for national reconciliation that includes 30 members representing Syrians from various parts of the country.
The statement called on all regional and Western countries to commit to international law and stop their logistic, financial and military support to foreign backed insurgents.
Parliamentarians expressed full support for further activating the political life in Syria. They held whoever rejects dialogue responsible for more bloodshed in the country.
The Syrian government had earlier discussed means of implementing President Assad’s plan announced in his speech on the 6th of January.
A special governmental committee was created tasked with contacting all Syrian sides in preparation for holding a comprehensive national dialogue.
