A child martyred and many civilians reported injured after “Free Army” militants fired a mortar shell landed behind the Children Hospital in the area of Sheik Saad in Mazzeh of Damascus.

One child was martyred and other citizens, including an old man, were injured as a mortar shell, launched by terrorists, fell near the gas station in al-Sheikh Saad in al-Mezzah.

A source at the Police Command told SANA reporter that a mortar shell fell on a house near the gas station, causing the martyrdom of an 11-year-old child and the injury of an 8-year-old child and old man who were rushed to hospital.

The source added that the terrorist attack also caused material damage to the house.

Earlier, three citizens were martyred and others wounded when terrorists detonated a car loaded with large amounts of explosives in Kanaker town in Damascus countryside. The car bomb cause large-scale damage in the area, the source added.

A source at the Police Command told SANA that an armed group detonated the car near al-Omari Mosque in Kanaker town, causing the martyrdom of three citizens, including a father and his son, and the injury of 10 others, among them women and children.

Material damage by mortar shell on al-Faiha’a stadium in Damascus

Meanwhile, correspondents reported that gunmen have fired another shell slammed into the Faihaa gymnasium in Damascus, where it landed in the Basketball playground causing material damage.

An official source at the Police Command told SANA that a shell fell on the basketball court inside the stadium, causing huge material damage to equipment, without any casualties.



Wide operations in Damascus countryside

Army units killed and wounded gunmen and destroyed their weapons in a series of operations against their concentrations in eastern Ghouta, Damascus southern and northwestern countryside.

Our reporter said an army unit continued to make headway in al-Qaboun neighborhood, destroying a insurgents’den with the weapons and ammunition and killing all the gunmen inside, as another unit discovered a field hospital in Barzeh neighborhood with medical equipment and medicine inside that terrorists stole from health centers and hospitals, killing two leaders of terrorist groups; Mahmoud al-Habboul and Ahmad Antouz.

The source added that gatherings of al-Nusra Front members were eliminated in Duma city and southwest of Adra al-Balad, in addition to destroying a den for a terrorist group, a mortar cannon and heavy machinegun, and killing numbers of terrorists in Hejjira town.

The reporter indicated that an army unit clashed with an armed group near Shammot Car Company in Harasta, killing and wounding a number of its members, as a terrorists’ hideout was destroyed in Irbeen town with the weapons and ammunition inside.

In eastern Ghouta, an army unit killed most of an armed terrorist group’s members in al-Bahariya farms and destroyed heavy machineguns and automatic rifles.
