Vienna Interfaith Global Forum participants call for release of abducted bishops in Aleppo
Vienna – The Interfaith Global Forum in the Austrian capital, Vienna, called for the immediate release of John Ibrahim Paul Yazigi and Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo, Bishop John Ibrahim, who have been abducted by armed terrorist groups in the countryside of Aleppo.
Vienna website reported that all Islamic and Christian clergymen participating in the forum called for denouncing violence and expressing rejection of the radicalism and extremism threatening the society of Syria due to the crisis it is going through.
The participants stressed the necessity for securing freedom of religion and belief of everybody and individual and collective freedom.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of the Orthodox Church and Cardinal of Brazil participated in the forum, in addition to a number of Austrian and Nigerian cardinals.
The two-day event brought together scores of Christian and religious clergymen from all over the world.
Armed terrorist forces kidnapped bishops Yazigi and Ibrahim last April 22 while they were on humanitarian missions in Kafr Dael village in Aleppo.
