Syrian presidential advisor, Bouthaina Shaaban, says the West and the Israeli regime want to change the regional balance of power to their own benefit by waging war on Syria.
The senior advisor to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Wednesday that a war has been imposed on her country to change the regional balance of power.
Shaaban added that the war aims to split Syria and break up regional resistance movements.
Shaaban’s remarks came as talks between representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition continued in the Swiss city of Geneva.
The talks aim to find a political solution to the crisis that has gripped Syria since 2011. Over 130,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the unrest.
According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
