Int’l Peace Activists Group shows solidarity with Syria
Damascus, 11/04/2014 – Members of the group of International Peace Activists who arrived Syria Friday affirmed solidarity of peace lovers around the world with Syrians in the face of suffering and embargo to which they are exposed.
Head of the delegation, the Nobel-Peace-Prize winner Mairead Maguire, called on the countries that are sending terrorists and weapons to Syria to stop participating in increasing the Syrians suffering.
She stressed that arming terrorist groups violets the international legitimacy and annuls any opportunity for peaceful solution.
She pointed out that they will convey the reality of events regarding the situation in Syria to their countries, calling for lifting sanctions imposed on Syria.
Assistant of Minister of Social Affairs Wasim al-Dehni said that the visit includes inspecting the relief and humanitarian situation in a number of provinces and offering relief and medical aid to people in need.
The delegation, who visits Syria for one week, comprise of 42 activists, academic and clergymen from Lebanon, Australia, Britain, Canada, Germany, Pakistan and Iran.
