Terrorist attempt to blow up gas factories in Homs thwarted, eight killed in the attack

Guards of two gas factories in Froqlos area in Homs caught the two terrorists who attacked “Ebla” and “Southern of the Central Area” gas factories in the countryside of Homs province using a car bomb.

Earlier, a source at the Petroleum Ministry said that the terrorists blew up a pickup truck loaded with 2.5 tons of explosives in front of the entrance to the factories on Monday at dawn, resulting in casualties and slight material damage.

The source added that no damage was inflicted upon the infrastructure of the two factories, which are still operating normally.

A military source told SANA that the factories’ guards arrested the two terrorists who detonated the car bomb, Abdelkarim Farhan al-Khellawi and Farhan Hamid al-Hajjaj, while they were fleeing the scene.

SANA’s correspondent in Homs said the terrorist attack claimed 8 lives and injured others who were rushed to hospitals for treatment.

Units of the army and the armed forces on Monday continued to launch wide-scale military operations against foreign-backed terrorist organizations across the country, killing and injuring scores of their members and foiling their infiltration attempts.

Hama 

The army, in cooperation with national defense forces, seized five cars loaded with rockets and different weapons during an ambush against a terrorist group near al-Saboura village in Hama countryside, killing a number of terrorists.

The seized weapons, coming from Turkey, included 40 Grad rockets and mortars in addition to medical and nutritional materials from Saudi Arabia.

Deir Ezzor 

A Military source told SANA that the army pursued terrorists from the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist organization, destroying a vehicle loaded with a heavy machine gun and killing scores of them in Hweijet al-Sakre and 8 vehicles in al-Jafra and al-Shoula, Hweika and Mu Hassan in Deir Ezzor countryside.

 Damascus countryside 

A military source told SANA that the army foiled an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate into one of the military posts in Khirbet Sultana and Hamrit in Damascus countryside, killing many of them.

Homs

Units of the army and the armed forces kill scores of terrorists and injure others in al-Rastan, Rajm al-Qasr, al-Sauma’a, Talbiseh, Unq al-Hawa and Um Sahrij in the countryside of the province.

Units of the army and the armed forces in cooperation with the popular defense groups killed and injured many terrorists in al-Waer neighborhood, and foiled their attempts to infiltrate from al-Khrab street to al-Waer fields in Homs.

Qunaitera

A military source told SANA that the army destroyed dens and gatherings for terrorists in Mashara, Nabe’e al-Sakhare in Qunaitera countryside, killing many of them.

Daraa

Units of the army and the armed forces killed a number of terrorists in Kasif al-Sin and eight more terrorists in Bosra al-Cham, destroying nine terrorist’s vehicles loaded with ammunition on al-Ghariyeh al-Gharbiyeh – Alma road in the countryside of the province.

Idleb

Units of the army and the armed forces killed 13 terrorists affiliated to the so-called Ahrar al-Sham terrorist organization, injure others at the surrounding of Taftanaz in the province and destroyed an armored vehicle and another equipped with heavy machinegun.

Units of the army and the armed forces destroyed a den and killed all of Jabhat al-Nusra-linked terrorists in it to the west of Ma’art Mssarin town, in addition to killing scores of terrorists in al-Majass, al-Huti and Humaimat al-Daer in the countryside the northern province.
