On Saturday, the Syrian foreign ministry sent two letters to the UN secretary-general and the head of the UN Security Council and called them to do their best to prevent certain countries from sending arm shipments to the rebel groups in the country.
The ministry, in its letters, called on the UN to persuade the Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, France and the US to end their military and financial support for the antigovernment armed groups in the country.
The danger posed by the terrorists will come back to haunt the same countries that have backed them, the letters warned.
Syria reiterated that the solution to the crisis is only political based on an inter-Syrian dialogue and led by Syria without foreign interference, the letters concluded, urging the international community to back the outcomes of the recent Moscow consultative meetings on the crisis in Syria.
