Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi held the countries backing terrorism responsible for the barbaric atrocities which Daesh-ISIL, CIA-mercenaries terrorists organization, committed in Palmyra

Syrian Arab News Agency, 25/5/2015 ~ Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi held the countries backing terrorism responsible for the barbaric atrocities which DAESH (ISIS) terrorist organization committed against the residents of Palmyra city in Homs.

Local reports from the city, which is also known as Tadmur, said ISIS terrorists have slaughtered and mutilated at least 400 civilians, including children, women and elderly people and prevented thousands of others from leaving the city.

The atrocities followed an assault which ISIS started days ago against the city, which is home to very important ancient ruins that are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Al-Halaqi cited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and some Western states as being on top of the countries providing financial and military support to the terrorist organization, including ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra.

He called on the international community and the humanitarian organizations to pressure the governments backing terrorism into stopping their support.

The Regional Leadership for al-Baath Arab Socialist Party also condemned the crime, adding that the countries that are supporting and funding the terrorists are responsible for it.
The regional Leadership said such systematic crimes would not have taken place should the international community had shoulder its responsibilities in countering this global threat.

Russia gravely concerned over terrorists’ seizure of Palmyra

Syrian Arab News Agency, 24/5/2015 ~ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich expressed concern over recent terrorist advances in Iraqi and Syrian cities, including Idleb, Jisr al-Shughour and most recently, Palmyra.

Commenting on the latest developments in the city of Palmyra which has been recently seized by Islamic State in Syria and Iraq (ISIS) terrorists, Lukashevich said in a press statement on Friday his country is “gravely concerned” over the fate that awaits the iconic city after ISIS control.

“As for Palmyra (now seized by the Islamic State), serious concerns over the fate of world cultural heritage sites, in which the Syrians take natural pride, add to the aggravated situation,” he said. “We’d consider their destruction as an unpardonable act of vandalism, encroachment on general human values and an insult to civilization.”

The Russian diplomat pointed out that ISIS gunmen have carried out mass executions in the city, strongly lashing out at the bloody crimes of terrorists in the areas under their control.

He cast doubt on the effectiveness of the US-led anti-ISIS Coalition in blunting the expansion of the terrorist group.

“The activity of the-so called anti-ISIS coalition led by the United States has failed to produce result as of yet, and has not affected the ability of the Islamic State to expand,” he said.

Hundreds killed on charges of loyalty to the Syrian government

Syrian Arab News Agency, 24/5/2015 ~ Hundreds of residents of Palmyra city-also known as Tadmur-have been killed at the hands of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which started an assault against city days ago.

Reliable local sources inside the city, that is home to the world’s most renowned historical sites, said ISIS terrorists slaughtered and mutilated at least 400 civilians, including children, women and elderly people.

Those were killed on charges of loyalty to the Syrian government and disobedience to the ISIS, according to the sources.

They said that dozens of the victims were state employees, citing the slaughtering of the chairwoman of the Nursing Department at Tadmur National Hospital along with all of her family’s members.

Thousands of other residents are besieged inside the city as ISIS has prevented them from leaving, according to the local sources, who also noted that the residents are having their properties seized by ISIS members.

Another appalling massacre was committed by ISIS in Tadmur, located in Homs’ eastern countryside, earlier this month when its members killed at least 30 of the residents of al-Ameriyeh village.

These and other ISIS atrocities are being perpetrated amid shameful international silence, with the Security Council only expressing “concern” without taking any practical deterrent measures on the ground.
