800 Colombian Soldiers Hired to Join Saudi-Led Forces in Yemen with $1000 Weekly Salary
Over 800 Colombian mercenaries could take up front-line positions in Yemen under the Saudi command, the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo said in a report.
The troops are expected to be involved in an ongoing offensive against the revolutionary forces, which currently hold Yemen’s capital, Sana’a.
Hundreds of Colombian nationals are fighting alongside the Saudi-led forces in Yemen, the report further added.
The troops include former Colombian soldiers fighting under contract with Saudi Arabia.
The first group of just under 100 Colombian troops arrived in Yemen earlier this month. The troops were set to arrive in the Southern port city of Aden.
In recent days unconfirmed reports have surfaced the number of Colombians in Yemen may have already reached that number (800).
The report said that in addition to the hefty amount of money paid by the Emir of the United Arab Emirates, the Saudis’ main and powerful ally, the Colombian forces will earn at least $1000 of weekly salary to combat alongside the Saudi-led coalition forces against the Yemeni army and popular forces.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 217 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 6,882 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

“The resolution is an attempt to blame solely the Assad’s government of killings of Syrians and to blame his government as being the main reason behind Syrians refugees problem, and by that they absolve the real terrorists from any blame of daily killings in Syria.
A barrel bomb is nothing but another bomb…But the sell by the West of this bomb meant to scare people of this so called unique ‘barrel’ bomb, as if it’s somehow a nuclear, or neutron bomb that demands a UNSC resolution.”
