(FNA) ~ The final statement of the International Syria Support Group meeting in Vienna will focus on ceasefire and sending humanitarian aid to the besieged Syrian people, Lebanese media reported on Tuesday.

According to al-Mayadeen news channel, the final statement will include ways to stabilize truce, stop the attacks and increase efforts to dispatch more humanitarian aid to the Syrian people surrounded by terrorists.

The Lebanese channel also reported that the fate of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has not been mentioned in the final statement.

Also, the paragraph related to the political transition in Syria has been written based on an ambiguous formula, al-Mayadeen reported.

John Kerry, the US secretary of state, and Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, co-chaired a meeting of the International Syria Support Group on Tuesday in an attempt to patch up an agreement reached in February on a cessation of hostilities and expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to besieged areas.

In addition to the UK, France, the EU and the Arab League, the 17-member group includes Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Upon arrival in Vienna on Monday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated his country’s opposition to the military solution of the Syrian problem, and said blocking the terrorists’ use of truce to recruit more forces should be the result of the International Syria Support Group meeting in Vienna.

“Despite attempts by the terrorist groups and their regional and global supporters, the crisis in Syria has no military solution and the International Syria Support Group meeting is an opportunity to emphasize the necessity for complete respect for the ceasefire,” Zarif told reporters.

He warned of the danger posed by terrorism to Syria, the region and the entire world, and said, “Confrontation against these terrorist groups is necessary and we shouldn’t allow them to use the truce to intensify the terrorist acts against the Syrian people.”

Zarif described the Vienna talks as a good opportunity, and said Iran has always underscored the need to settle the crisis in Syria through political talks.
