Syrian Army Holds off Al-Nusra Offensive near Border with Turkey

(FNA) – The Syrian Army troops repelled attacks of the al-Nusra Front on their strongholds in Northern Aleppo and forced them to retreat from the battlefields without any gain.

“The al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra terrorists stormed defense lines of the pro-government forces near border with Turkey, but the strong defense of the Syrian soldiers did not allow them to advance and caused them to pull forces back from the battlefield,” army sources said.

In the meantime, the terrorist groups’ attacks to capture Halasah in Southwestern Aleppo were repulsed by the Syrian army and popular forces.

In relevant developments in the province on Sunday, the Syrian Army troops opened heavy fire at the gatherings of the ISIL and forced them to retreat from their positions near a main road coming from Hama province to Southeastern Aleppo.

The Syrian military forces repelled the ISIL attacks to penetrate into the government forces’ positions and checkpoints along the strategic road of Ithriya-Khanasser, which ended in the killing or injuring of several militants.

ISIL Fails to Open New Supply Line to Terrorist-Held Regions West of Raqqa

(FNA) – The Syrian army troops repelled ISIL’s continued attacks to open a new supply route from Southeastern Aleppo and Northeastern Hama to save its under-attack forces in Western Raqqa.

The ISIL attacks on the government forces’ positions along the road connecting Ithriya in Hama to Khanasser in Aleppo were repelled by the Syrian soldiers.

The ISIL tried hard to access chunks of this road to transfer foodstuff, fuel, ammunition and arms to its forces in al-Tabaqa via al-Badiyeh region.

The ISIL suffered a heavy death toll in the failed attacks.

Reports said earlier today that the Syrian Army troops’ anti-terrorism offensives in Western Raqqa inflicted major losses on the ISIL and forced the terrorist group to pull forces back from two more key regions.

The Syrian soldiers advanced significantly against the ISIL in al-Habari oilfield, which ended in the killing or wounding of several militants.

In the meantime, the Syrian arm men and their popular allies, after hours of non-stop clashes with the ISIL, captured Rajm al-Sheikh region in Sothern side of al-Rasafeh, which claimed the lives of at least 30 militants and seizure of a large amount of their ammunition and military equipment.

Syrian Army Detonates Tunnels under ISIL Positions in Deir Ezzur

(FNA)- Military sources said on Monday that dozens of ISIL terrorists were killed or wounded after the Syrian army’s engineering units detonated two tunnels, filled by explosive materials, under their positions in the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur.

“The Syrian army engineering units detonated two tunnels with the length of 45 and 40 meters and the width of 2 meters filled with explosive materials under the ISIL positions in al-Sina’ah district near Deir Ezzur, which ended in the killing and wounding of scores of the militants,” the sources said,

adding, “Simultaneous with explosion of the tunnels, the ISIL centers came under the heavy shelling of the army’s missile and artillery units, which increased the ISIL casualties.”

“Heavy fighting is now underway in Deir Ezzur,” the source went on to say.

Reports said earlier today that the Syrian Army’s artillery and missile units shelled ISIL’s base in the Southwestern side of Deir Ezzur city, hitting the Takfiri terrorist group’s large depot of arms and ammunition.

“The ISIL base’s arms depot near Panorama was badly attacked by the Syrian artillery and missile,” the sources said,

adding, “The depot was completely destroyed and several guards of the base were also killed in the attacks.
