(FNA)- Syrian army troops and National Defense Forces in a joint offensive drove Jeish al-Izzah terrorist group out of the positions that it had captured in the Northwestern Hama on Saturday.

Syrian government forces, backed up by the Syrian fighter jets and artillery units, struck Jeish al-Izzah’s positions and took back Shelwat checkpoint and the village of Abu Obeideh, killing at least 20 militants and destroying their arms and ammunition.

After the terrorists’ Saturday attack, a large number of popular forces, deployed in Ma’ardeh, were sent to al-Malah.

The terrorist group retreated from the battlefield to al-Latamina after sustaining heavy casualties.

In relevant developments in the province on Saturday, the Syrian Army troops continued to drive the terrorist groups out of more lands in Northern Hama, capturing a key checkpoint and several regions near the town of Morek.

Syrian military forces pushed terrorists back from Syriatel checkpoint, al-Basha’er School, al-Manasher and some other regions near Morek.

Syrian army soldiers also advanced along the road connecting the region of Tal Bazam to al-Zahrat al-Aliyeh region and won back more lands in the Northwestern side of Tal Bazam.

A military source said that the Syrian army is to launch a massive offensive in the Southern and Southeastern side of the town of Taybat al-Imam and in the Eastern side of the town of Lahaya to complete its operation in Northern Hama.

The Syrian Air Force and artillery units targeted Jeish al-Fatah terrorists’ positions, vehicles and equipment in the towns and villages of Taybat al-Imam, Albu’izeh, Tal al-Mantar, Wadi al-Basher, Tabarat al-Dibeh, Tal (Hill) Huweir, al-Masaseneh, al-Zalaqiyat, Hasraya, al-Latamina, Kafr Zita, near Morek, Latmin, Ma’arkebeh, North of Ma’an, Atshan and Qalib al-Thowar, killing or wounding tens of militants.
