Syrian Arab Army units reached the Syrian-Iraqi borders northeast of al-Tanf in the depths of the Badiya desert, a military source told to Syrian News Agency’s reporters from the battlefield.

The source said that Syrian army units, in cooperation with allies, continued their successful military operations in the Badiya desert, and managed on Friday afternoon to reach the Syrian-Iraqi borders northeast of al-Tanf and established positions in the area after eliminating all remaining pockets of ISIS terrorists in that direction.

Back on June 6th and May 18th before that, the US-led international coalition attacked advanced Syrian Arab Army positions on al-Tanf road in the eastern countryside of Homs province in an attempt to prevent the army from reaching the borders.

Deir Ezzor

Units of Syrian Arab Army and Syrian Armed Forces operating in Deir Ezzor, backed by the air force, thwarted an attack by Daesh (ISIL, ISIS, IS) mercenary-terrorists on the southern axis of Deir Ezzor city, inflicting heavy losses upon their ranks and equipment.

Large groups of ISIS terrorists attacked, during last night and at Friday’s dawn, al-Tanmia Barrier and a number of the hills in the area surrounding al-Panorama and Regiment 137 in an attempt to control those areas as they were confronted by the army units operating in the area, killing and injuring many of the terrorists.

The reporter affirmed that the army units thwarted the attack completely and prevented terrorist groups from achieving any progress on the ground in parallel with the sorties of Syrian air force on the supply routes of terrorists coming from al-Bghailieh village and Wadi al-Tharda.

The reporter added that the sorties also targeted a number of terrorists’ dens and gatherings in al-Janina, the graveyards, the area surrounding al-Panorama and Jdaidit al-Ekidat, destroying a command site for ISIS and 3 vehicles in addition to killing a number of terrorists, most of them are mercenaries of foreign nationalities.
