“We were at the basement and we heard people shouting that we needed to go to a hospital. We went through a tunnel. At the hospital they started pouring cold water on me,” the boy told the press conference, gathered by Russia’s mission at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
Hassan was among the “victims” seen being washed by water hoses in a video released by the controversial White Helmets group on April 7. The boy and his family later spoke to the media and revealed that Hassan was hurried to the scene by men who claimed that a chemical attack had taken place. They started pouring cold water on the boy and others, filming the frightened children.
“There were people unknown to us who were filming the emergency care, they were filming the chaos taking place inside, and were filming people being doused with water. The instruments they used to douse them with water were originally used to clean the floors actually,” Ahmad Kashoi, an administrator of the emergency ward, recalled. “That happened for about an hour, we provided help to them and sent them home. No one has died. No one suffered from chemical exposure.”
Halil al-Jaish, a resuscitator who tended to people at the Douma hospital that day, told the press conference that some of the patients had indeed experienced respiratory problems. The symptoms, however, were caused by heavy dust, which engulfed the area due to recent airstrikes, and no one showed any signs of chemical warfare poisoning, al-Jaish said.
The hospital received people who suffered from smoke and dust asphyxiation on the day of the alleged attack, Muwaffak Nasrim, a paramedic who was working in emergency care, said. The panic seen in footage provided by the White Helmets was caused mainly by people shouting about the alleged use of chemical weapons, Nasrim, who witnessed the chaotic scenes, added. No patients, however, displayed symptoms of chemical weapons exposure, he said.
Ahmad Saur, an emergency paramedic with the Syrian Red Crescent, said that the ward he was working at did not receive any patients exposed to chemical weapons on the day of the alleged incident or after it. All the patients needed either general medical care or help with injuries, he said. Saur told journalists he came to speak at The Hague independently of the Red Crescent, and that he was testifying freely and without any pressure.
One reporter asked what would happen to the eyewitnesses and whether they would “stay in Europe to testify.”
“We’re going back home, and see no problem with that. The situation is a lot better now. We’re Douma residents, like many others,” Hassan Ayoun, a doctor with the emergency department, said.
Six of the Douma witnesses brought to The Hague have already been interviewed by the OPCW technical experts, Russia’s permanent representative to the OPCW, Aleksandr Shulgin, said.
“The others were ready too, but the experts are sticking to their own guidelines. They’ve picked six people, talked to them, and said they were ‘completely satisfied’ with their account and did not have any further questions,”Shulgin revealed. He added that the allegations by “certain Western countries” ahead of the briefing that Moscow and Damascus were seeking to “hide” the witnesses from the OPCW experts did not hold water.
The alleged chemical incident was only supported by the White Helmets’ video and social media reports from militant-linked groups, but the US, the UK and France judged they had enough evidence that it actually took place and launched a series of punitive strikes against Syria on April 14. The US and its allies accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of carrying out the “attack,” without providing any proof of their claim. Notably, the strike came hours before the OPCW fact-finding team was set to arrive in Douma to determine whether chemical weapons had been used there.

Informed and reliable local sources said that the attempt of the terrorist organizations in Eastern Ghouta to accuse the Syrian Arab Army of using the chemical weapon came in the frame of completing the desperate attempts of some western countries at the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council to rescue the terrorists from their inevitable end at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army.
The sources added that the victories achieved by the army against terrorists in Ghouta made the terrorists and their sponsors repeat their common lies and fabricate allegations to stop the advance of the army and protect the terrorists, in addition to using those allegations as a pretext to launch aggression against Syria.
The Syrian Government has warned at the UN sessions against that campaign through which the terrorist organizations are preparing for this scenario; in addition to that a military source has warned, few days ago, that there is confirmed information that those terrorist organizations were ordered by their sponsors to use the chemical weapon in Ghouta to accuse the Syrian Army, the sources clarified.
The sources said that the failure of the terrorism-sponsoring states to ensure support to their tools in Ghouta pushed them to use the scenario of the chemical weapon which they have used several times before, but their allegations have been unveiled.
The sources pointed out that exploiting the civilians and children by the terrorist organizations and their supporters in fabricating the accusations has become clear, adding that the terrorists are the ones who took the civilians as hostages and human shields and prevented them to exit through the safe corridor.
The sources asserted that the Syrian State, which holds national reconciliations and establishes safe corridors for the civilians to exit the areas controlled by terrorists, is the one which cares for the civilians’ safety and protects them.
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stressed at the latest session of the UN Security Council that the Syrian Government was informed that the terrorists are preparing to use the chlorine gas on a wide-scale to accuse the Syrian Arab Army , adding that the attack will be carried out before March 13th.
Syrian Arab Army General Command:
“Terrorists in eastern Aleppo target al-Nairab
with shells containing chlorine”
The General Command of the Syrian Arab Army and Syrian Armed Forces announced that terrorist groups located in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo targeted on Sunday afternoon al-Nairab area and its surroundings with mortar shells containing chlorine, causing scores of injuries among civilians and military personnel.
In a statement, the General Command said that this terrorist attack is a response to the achievements made by the Army and Armed Forces south and west of Aleppo, to the heavy losses suffered by terrorists, and to the failure of all attempts to break the encirclement of terrorists in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo.
The General Command asserted that such cowardly attacks will only make the Army and Armed Forces more determined to speed up the finalization of the battle with terrorism and to rid the eastern neighborhoods of the terrorists who use civilians as hostages and human shields.
Terrorists had fired shells containing toxic materials on residential neighborhoods in Aleppo more than once, with one such incident taking place on October 31st when they targeted al-Hamadaniye and al-Assad suburb with toxic gases, causing 48 cases of asphyxiation, and on November 3rd terrorists targeted Manian west of Aleppo with toxic gases, causing 8 cases of asphyxiation.
Terrorist gangs shell Syrian Army
with poison gas in Aleppo, scores injured
Militants used shells containing poison chlorine gas to attack Syrian military positions in Aleppo on Sunday, injuring scores of government troops, according to the Syrian Army.
In a statement Monday, the General Command of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces confirmed that terrorist groups located in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo targeted the al-Nairab area and its surroundings with mortar shells containing chlorine on Sunday evening, SANA news agency reported.
Scores of civilians and military personnel were injured, the military said.
Citing sources on the ground, RT Arabic reported that at least 28 government troops were injured. Local media gave the same figures for those injured.
RT’s Murad Gazdiev, reporting from Aleppo, said that after contacting hospitals, the number of soldiers injured in the attack may be as high as 44. “We don’t know exactly how many of them had died or how many are merely sick,” he added.
The attack is the third instance of terrorists using chemical weapons in Aleppo in the space of just two weeks.
Previously, gas was used on October 30, when one person was killed and 40 injured. A second incident took place on November 3.
Earlier this week, experts from the Russian Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces’ research center found evidence of Aleppo militants using chlorine and white phosphorus.
Following the discovery, Russia’s Defense Ministry addressed the UN’s Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, asking it to send a mission to Aleppo. Both Russian and Syrian authorities repeatedly warned that militants from some hardline groups might use chemical weapons against civilians and government forces in the city.
The West have pointed the finger at Damascus and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) for using chemical weapons, but not militants in Aleppo, who are labeled the ‘moderate opposition’ by the US and its allies.
Russian and Syrian aviation have halted its air strikes in Aleppo, which remains split between the Syrian government forces and the terrorists, on October 18, and have been regularly organizing 10-hour “humanitarian pauses” in the city.

Mercenary-terrorists launch toxic gas attack
near Aleppo airport
Militants have launched a toxic gas attack near the international airport in Syria’s Aleppo, Al Mayadeen TV reported Sunday. According to the Lebanon-based TV channel, during an artillery attack miliants used shells with poisonous gas. At least 28 Syrian servicemen have been injured.
Sunday’s attack is the third militants’ reported use of chemical weapons over the last two weeks.
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian military experts had found evidence that militants in the Syrian city of Aleppo had used chemical weapons, likely chlorine and white phosphorus. The ministry added that it samples of soil and shell fragments found in Aleppo to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
In late October, a chemical attack in Aleppo killed two and injured dozens of civilians.
Despite numerous reports of militants’ use of chemical weapons, the OPCW-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) expert panel recently released the fourth report, which, in particular, claimed that the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad had used chemical weapons at least three times in the country throughout 2014-2015.
On Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed regret over the OPCW decision.
Russian military experts have found that militants in the Syrian city of Aleppo have used chemical weapons, likely chlorine and white phosphorus, spokesperson of the Russian Defense Ministry Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
“While conducting reconnaissance in the ‘1070’ area, the officers of the scientific center of the Russian Troops of Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence (RChBD) have found evidence of chemical weapon use by terrorists against the civilian population and Syrian servicemen,” he said on Friday…(…read more…)…
