HISTORY FOR SALE:

The Islamic State (ISIL, ISIS or Daesh) jihadist group generates up to $200 million in annual profits from around 100,000 cultural objects it controls in Iraq and Syria selling them through the Turkish city of Gaziantep, the Russian permanent representative to the UN said in a letter to the UN Security Council presidency.

“The main centre for the smuggling of cultural heritage items is the Turkish city of Gaziantep, where the stolen goods are sold at illegal auctions and then through a network of antique shops and at the local market,” Vitaly Churkin’s letter states.

Excavations at and transportation from around 4,500 archaeological sites, nine of which are in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List, are permitted only to those in possession of a stamp and signature from the department, according to the letter.

He affirmed that around 100,000 of the world’s archeological sites are under the grip of ISIS, 9 of which are classified within the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List.

20 September 1973: The Mossad was informed of the presence in Syria of a new very effective missile system.

The Zionist Air Force sent a swarm of warplanes consisting of 63 Phantom over the skies of Tartous.

The answer of the Syrian Air Defense got no further than the classic antiaircraft response.

Israel believed in the non-effectiveness of the Syrian antiaircraft system.

16 days later, exactly the 6 October 1973, began the war better known as the War of the Yom Kippur.

Zionist warplanes were falling on Syrian soil, like the leaves of a tree in autumn, by the action of the mythical Sam-6, Soviet-made.

Satellite images confirm the destruction of another famed temple in Syria’s Palmyra, the United Nations said late Monday.

“We can confirm destruction of the main building of the Temple of Bel as well as a row of columns in its immediate vicinity”, the UN training and research agency UNITAR said, providing satellite images from before and after a powerful blast in the ruins of the ancient city Sunday.
