Armed men in more regions laid down weapons and joined peace agreement with the Syrian Army, the Russian Defense Ministry said in its latest report.

The Ministry said in its report that gunmen in more regions have ended fight with Syrian government forces, adding, “The total number of regions, towns and villages that have thus far endorsed peace agreement with Damascus stands at 2,131.”

The ministry added that talks are underway between the government officials and representatives of militants in the province of Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Homs, Quneitra and Damascus to join the peace plan…..

(TURN ON ENG SUBS) ~ Representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the moderate Syrian opposition have reached an agreement on the third de-escalation zone north of the city of Homs, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.
“On July 31, a new round of talks between representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the moderate Syrian opposition was held in Cairo,” he said. “The meeting’s participants reached an agreement concerning the functioning of the third de-escalation zone north of the city of Homs, which will include 84 settlements with a population of more than 147,000,” Konashenkov added.
The general pointed out that in early July, during the fifth round of talks in Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana, a decision had been made to establish four de-escalation zones in Syria. Two of them – in southwest Syria and on the outskirts of Damascus (in Eastern Ghouta) – have already been set up.
A ceasefire in the third de-escalation zone will enter into force on August 3 starting from 12:00 p.m. local time, Konashenkov said.
“According to the reached agreement, today, on August 3, starting from 12:00 p.m. local time, armed units of the moderate opposition and government troops will cease fire from all weapons,” he said.
“I would like to emphasize that, just like in the two previously set up de-escalation zones, the ceasefire in the Homs de-escalation zone will not apply to members of the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra terror groups [both outlawed in Russia – TASS],” Konashenkov added. “Moreover, in accordance with the agreement, the moderate opposition has pledged to drive all the units joining the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra out of the areas of the Homs Governorate that it controls,” the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman said.
According to him, starting from August 4, Russian military police will establish two check points along the line of contact north of Homs, as well as three observation posts. Konashenkov said that military police were entrusted with the tasks of separating the opposing sides, monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as medical and casualty evacuation. “All the sick and wounded will be provided with an opportunity to undergo medical treatment either at the Russian military hospital or Syrian hospitals,” Konashenkov noted.

“The opposition, in turn, will unblock the section of the Homs-Hama highway passing through the de-escalation zone,” he added. According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman, local councils will address the issues of everyday life in the de-escalation zone. Besides, a National Justice Committee is planned to be set up which will comprise “representatives of the opposition and all major ethnic, political and religious groups residing in the region,” the Russian general added.
“Russia will continue its efforts aimed at restoring peace in Syria,” Konashenkov said. He pointed out that in the past ten days, as many as 52 settlements had joined the ceasefire agreement, while Russia had carried out 41 humanitarian missions, providing more than 55 tonnes of food to Syrian civilians.

The Syrian Arab Army has reached the Iraqi border, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Russian ministry officers also accused the U.S. forces of hindering the Syrian war effort against terrorism by blocking SAA attacks against Daesh (ISIS) near the Syrian border with Iraq

While we don’t have a lot of details yet, here’s what we can say: this is a brilliant move if true. Not exactly a checkmate yet, but definitely a check on US ambitions in southern Syria.

In essence, as Americans were busy bombing small Syrian groups entering their declared exclusion zone via the main road, a separate Syrian force staged a lightning-quick advance through roadless desert, well to the east of the “deconfliction” zone enveloping the Americans.

If the U.S. forces are not cut off from ISIS they no longer have an excuse to continue occupying this part of Syria. (Or will they insist they get to leapfrog over the Syrian army?)

Russians are saying it will be them and the Syrians — rather than the Americans — who will be advancing along the Iraqi border towards al-Bukamal (the major border crossing in the Euphrates valley coveted by the Pentagon)

Russian officers also accused the US of hindering the Syrian war effort against ISIS, by blocking its military from opening a new front against the group: “The coalition air forces and the strongholds of the forces of New Syrian Army have blocked the way of the government forces, tasked with defeating IS groups.”

“This is a violation of the sovereign right of Syria to protect it borders.”

Apparently in sync with the Syrian army move south, Iraqi forces likewise advanced against ISIS from their side and met on the border. Thus Syria has not just reached the formal Iraqi border, but actually re-established an actual link to Iraq.

In this opening speech, Minister Shoigu emphasised that instead of a unified effort against international terrorism, Europe and the North Atlantic Alliance prefers to focus on non-existant threats from the East, paying off puppet leaders in the Baltic states especially. The recent accession of Montenegro into NATO, taking into account the vastly anti-NATO views of its Yugoslav neighbour, Serbia, precipitates a Balkan crisis of the future.

“U.S. Trying to Destroy Syria’s Critical Infrastructure”: A top Russian general claims that the U.S. is trying to “completely destroy critical infrastructure in Syria and complicate post-war reconstruction as much as possible”

On April 7, from 3.42 to 3.56 (MSK), two destroyers of the US Navy (USS Ross and USS Porter) made a massive strike with 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the area near Crete Island (Mediterranean Sea) against the Syrian Shayrat Air Base (Homs province).

According to the objective monitoring data, 23 missiles reached the Syrian Air Base. As a result, an equipment depot, a training building, a mess, six MiG-23 aircraft in repairing hangars as well as a radar station were destroyed. The runway, taxiways and aircraft of the Syrian Air Force at parking places were not damaged.

According to the information received from the Air Base Command, two Syrian servicemen are missing, 4 were killed and 6 got burning wounds during firefighting. Therefore, the combat effectiveness of the American massive missile strike on the Syrian Air Base is extremely low.

These actions of the American party are considered as a serious violation of the Memorandum on prevention of incidents and providing security during operations in the air space of Syria signed in 2015.

All the accusations against Damascus that it had violated the Chemical Weapons Convention of 2013 given by the USA as reasons for the strike are groundless. The Russian Defence Ministry has repeatedly explained that the Syrian troops had not used chemical weapons. The Russian military department is looking forward to receiving explanations from the USA concerning the existence of irrefutable proof that the Syrian army had used chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun.

It is to be stressed that in the years 2013-2016 the Syrian government undertook all measures to eliminate chemical weapons, its delivery systems, production facilities. All chemical weapons stocks have been eliminated. The components for their production have been transported from the Syrian Arab Republic to the enterprises of the United States, Finland, Great Britain, and Germany where they have been destroyed.

The US administrations have changed but the methods for unleashing wars have remained the same since bombardments of Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya. Allegations, falsifications, grandstand playing with photos and test-tubes with pseudo results in international organizations became the reason for aggression initiation instead of an objective investigation…… ……… ….. ……..

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has said it is “bewildered and disappointed” over new US sanctions targeting eight Russian companies, including defense firms and pilot training academies, which the State Department claims engage in “proliferation” activity with Iran, North Korea and Syria.

While the restrictions will cause “no serious problems” for Russia, they undermine the fight against global terrorism, which Washington has been claiming is its priority, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.

The so-called reports about “hospitals” and “schools” allegedly located in terrorist-held Syrian territory were created by the “White Helmets” group financed by London, the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashekov said Friday.

“After three days it is absolutely clear for everyone that the allegedly bombed “hospitals” and “mobile clinics” in Aleppo exist only in US State Department spokesman John Kirby’s imagination. This “information blooper” will certainly remain a stain on Admiral Kirby’s biography,” Konashenkov said.

The Russian side has often requested international organizations to provide data on the presence of any medical facilities and schools in terrorist-held territories in Syria but the organizations said they did not have information on the existence of any of such facilities.

“We have repeatedly asked representatives of the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, other countries and international organizations to provide any information on the location of medical aid posts [‘hospitals’] or schools in Syrian areas controlled by terrorists,” Konashenkov said.

Russia’s move to restore former Soviet military bases abroad is in line with the country’s new Maritime Doctrine and aims “to increase the autonomy of Russia’s naval presence in the World Ocean,” according to RIA Novosti political analyst Alexander Khrolenko.

RIA Novosti political analyst Alexander Khrolenko believes that Russia’s foreign military bases are in sync with the country’s news Maritime Doctrine and help “boost the autonomy of the Russian naval presence in the World Ocean.”

His remarks came after Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolay Pankov said on Monday that Moscow will establish a permanent naval base in the Syrian port city of Tartus, home to a Russian Navy maintenance and support facility which was established by the Soviet Union in 1977.

Pankov also said that the Russian Defense Ministry was looking into reestablishing Russian bases in Cuba and Vietnam.

In addition, media reports cited Russia’s plans to return to a former Soviet air force base in the Egyptian city of Sidi Barrani.

Referring to Russia, Khrolenko explained that the naval bases abroad ensure the safety of the country’s major sea lanes and increase the navy’s combat capability by bringing missiles closer to the strategic areas of the potential enemy.

According to him, the naval bases add to the more effective deployment of warships across the World Ocean, helping to focus on “potentially dangerous areas and crisis regions.”

Russia’s Defense Ministry has cautioned the U.S.-led coalition of carrying out airstrikes on Syrian army positions, adding in Syria there are numerous S-300 and S-400 air defense systems up and running.

Russia currently has S-400 and S-300 air-defense systems deployed to protect its troops stationed at the Tartus naval supply base and the Khmeimim airbase.

The radius of the weapons reach may be “a surprise” to all unidentified flying objects, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson General Igor Konashenkov said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, any airstrike or missile hitting targets in territory controlled by the Syrian government would put Russian personnel in danger.

“Therefore, any missile or air strikes on the territory controlled by the Syrian government will create a clear threat to Russian servicemen.”

“Russian air defense system crews are unlikely to have time to determine in a ‘straight line’ the exact flight paths of missiles and then who the warheads belong to. And all the illusions of amateurs about the existence of ‘invisible’ jets will face a disappointing reality,” Konashenkov added.

More planned terrorist attacks in Crimea have been revealed by the Federal Security Service (FSB) after it raided a Ukrainian infiltrator group on the peninsula over the weekend. One member of the FSB and one infiltrator died in the following shootout.

FSB has now released the video of the questioning of another infiltrator who was arrested seven days prior to the weekend’s operation.

The man, Ridvan Suleymanov, told investigators he was “aimed at choosing places for planting of explosive devices and terrorist acts,” at the bus station and airport in Simferopol, the capital city of Crimea. In the video he also admitted that “civilians could die” as a result.

Russia’s most advanced to date anti-aircraft defense system S-400 Triumph has been delivered to a surface-to-air missile (SAM) regiment in Crimea. The military will first deploy their newly received hardware in a training exercise ongoing in the region.

Plans of the S-400 deployment to Crimea were announced by the Russian Defense Ministry in July. After the air defense complex was successfully used in field firing at a training target missile in the Astrakhan region in southern Russia, it was delivered to the peninsula, military officials announced on Friday.

Russian missile corvettes depart Sevastopol for Syrian coast

Two missile carriers of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet departed Sevastopol to take part in an exercise in the eastern part of the Mediterranean. The Russian Buyan-M class corvettes, Zelyony Dol and Serpukhov, armed with the Kalibr-NK long-range cruise missile system, will steam to the Syrian coast. They will conduct artillery and missile firing practice during the tour, the Russian Defence Ministry said. A sure sign of Russia’s geopolitical strength is that it can, and does, unilaterally set the international agenda. This has been made obvious again in the surprise announcement this week by President Putin to begin withdrawal of Russian military forces from Syria.

It was, recall, Russia’s earlier lightning-fast air operation in Syria at the end of last year that has led to the current diplomatic track – a track that Washington and its allies have had to belatedly conform to. Now this latest move by Russia serves to reinforce the diplomatic track, and once again it has sent Western counterparts into a tailspin.

In announcing military drawdown, Putin made it clear that it was “mission accomplished” in Syria, and that henceforth it is time for diplomacy and peace talks to take over – or at least have a chance. Moscow’s assessment was that its military objectives had been fulfilled. And it’s hard to disagree.

Of course, what the Western media conveniently omit is that Russia secured the Syrian state from collapse in the face of a criminal foreign-backed ‘insurgency’ fomented by the US government for the purpose of regime change.

Russia’s air power has, however, enabled Syria to now pursue a solid political path towards a peaceful settlement of the five-year war.

Put it another way, without Russia’s support, the Geneva talks this week would simply not be happening. No doubt the war would be grinding on into its sixth year with horrendous human suffering. Because, despite Western lies and distortions, the fact is that Washington and its allies were fueling a criminal covert war for regime change – until, that is, Putin stepped in and overturned that execrable game…

“14 breaches were observed, 3 in Damascus, 2 in Quneitra and Lattakia, 1 in each of Hama and Daraa and 5 breaches in Aleppo, said a statement by the Russian Center for Coordinating and Observing the cessation of fighting acts, published on the Ministry’s website page.

The center added “the Russian air force didn’t carry out airstrikes against armed groups which accepted the cessation of hostilities.”

In the course of the last week, February 4-11, aircraft of the Russian aviation group in the Syrian Arab Republic have performed 510 combat sorties engaging 1,888 terrorists’ objects in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, Homs, Hasakah and Raqqah.

Near Bruma (Latakia province), a strong point and a mortar position of terrorists were eliminated. The objective monitoring data registered complete destruction of engineering fortifications and the battery.

During air duty mission, Su-25 attack aircraft detected 3 hardware columns transporting militants, armament and munitions along the highway Al-Qaryatayn – Homs. The strike resulted in elimination of 9 heavy trucks with munitions and more than 40 militants.

Near al-Ghariyah al-Gharbiyah (Daraa province), a Su-34 bomber made a strike on an ISIS strong point. The direct hit of a guided munition caused complete destruction of the terrorists’ fortifications. Objective monitoring data confirmed elimination of 2 pieces of militants’ armored hardware.

2 powerful field commanders liquidated in the Aleppo province. In the suburbs of Kalaz-Tahtani, a large illegal armed group with its commander, “Abu Maher” (“Farid Al-Misri”) was eliminated by an airstrike. The field commander “Abu Anas Al-Sham” from the Jaysh al-Sham terrorist group was liquidated in the territory of the same province.

It is to be reminded that the first blaming wave had appeared right after destruction of thermal power station by the US Air Force aircraft in Aleppo, which left the whole districts without electricity.

The second wave of accusation went on after tragic bombardment of the hospital of the Doctors Without Borders in Kunduz (Afghanistan) carried out by the US Air Force on October 3, which killed 42 people.

By the way, the video with the strike and its consequences appeared in common access at once. The Russian Defence Ministry was not blamed for this tragedy just because there are no Russian troops in Afghanistan.

That is why all the lies are aimed to accuse Russia of bombing Syrian hospitals.

The Russian Defence Ministry refuted this fakes presenting the world public comprehensive photo and video evidence.

This wave of charges appeared right after the strike performed by aircraft of the US Air Force on Iraqi military servicemen near Fallujah having injured and killed more than 50 people.

Absence of any evidences and referring to impersonal eyewitnesses, which are called by the Western Media as “observers for human rights”, are the essential attribute of all accusations.

The Russian Defense Ministry posted on their official accounts in social networks the results of its own investigation following reports in foreign media about Russian airstrikes on civilian targets in Syria.

“I would like to remind you that a week ago several leading Western media outlets citing the US-based Syrian American Medical Society accused us of allegedly bombing hospitals in al-Ees, al-Hader, Khan Tuman, Sarmin, Latamna and al-Zirba”, ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters.

“We investigated this information. It turned out, in fact, that there is a hospital only in the settlement of Sarmin. There are no hospitals in al-Ees, al-Hader, Khan Tuman, Latamna and al-Zirba, and, consequently, there are no healthcare workers”, he added.
