Syria War Report [13/10/2017]: Turkish troops entered Idlib

Late on October 12, the Turkish Army started deploying troops and vehicles in Syria’s Idlib province. According to reports, at least 30 Turkish vehicles entered Idlib via the Atme border crossing and deployed in an area between it and Darat Izza town.

Some sources speculated that the deployment was coordinated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) that is the most powerful group in the militant-held Idlib province. However, this has not been confirmed by any evidence so far.

It’s interesting that the area of deployment allows Turkish forces to operate against both radicals Islamists in Idlib province and Kurdish militias in northern Aleppo.

Earlier, Turkish National Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli once again repeated that Ankara believes that weapons supplied to Kurdish-dominated US-backed forces in Syria will be used against Turkey.

In Deir Ezzor province, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated Kusham Fawqani village and consolidated its gains north of Deir Ezzor. This allows to develop operations further in order to liberate Deir Ezzor city.

At the same time, government forces, led by the SAA Tiger Forces, further outflanked al-Maydin city and de-facto encircled it, according to pro-government sources. Clashes are ongoing in the urban area… … …

A Turkish dissident leader revealed that the pharmaceutical companies affiliated to Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government have provided the terrorists in Syria with Sarin gas, reiterating that Ankara has been directly involved in Khan Sheikhoun chemical attack.
Sarhab Golhan, the leader of Moon and Star party, was quoted by SANA news agency as saying that Erdogan is directly involved in the chemical attack and he is “the ISIL’s current leader”.

“If investigations are carried out about Khan Sheikhoun incident, it will certainly reveal that Erdogan is behind it and all massacres happening in our region; the Justice and Development government opened the borders to the terrorists’ easy traffic and equipped them with weapons,” he added.
Golhan said that certain pharmaceutical companies close to the Justice and Development government have supplied the terrorists with Sarin gas to be used against the civilians and raise allegations against the Syrian government to provoke the international community…………………..

“Why did we enter? We do not have an eye on Syrian soil. The issue is to provide lands to their real owners. That is to say we are there for the establishment of justice. We entered there to end the rule of the tyrant al-Assad who terrorizes with state terror. [We didn’t enter] for any other reason”, Erdogan said.

If Turkish troops were in Syria to remove its President, instead with the flimsy excuse of fighting ISIS under a badly fitting UN mandate, they would be a hostile invasion force and a legitimate target for Syria and its allies.

The remark was thus stupid. It weakened the Turkish position.

Kremlin asks Erdogan to clarify ‘anti-Assad’ goals in Syria.

Erdogan tried to save the situation, promising a retreat from his statement for at least some gain for the Jihadis he supports.

Erdogan’s statement, aimed at his supporters in Turkey and elsewhere, created a legal mess for his troops. The attempt to sell a retreat from it for some gain was harshly rejected by Russia.

Now all Erdogan could do was to take his statement back with no gain at all. This was quite a loss of face for him – a well deserved one.

The game Erdogan tried would probably have worked with Merkel, or some other EU politician. Russia will have none of it. No means no. When Russia says stay out of Al-Bab it means stay out of Al-Bab…>>>…

Turkey has detained a large number of young Syrian male refugees without any explanation and plans to send them to Syria to fight for Ankara in its Euphrates Shield Operation, local sources disclosed on Tuesday.

“The Turkish security forces attacked Zohrat al-Forat hotel in Urfa city (in Southeastern Turkey) close to the border with Syria and kidnapped 20 young men after arresting 50 others who live in the city camps,” the sources said.
They added that the Turkish police officers also attacked many houses which shelter the Syrians in the Central part of Urfa and near the municipality building and abducted tens of other young Syrian refugees.

The sources said the Turkish army has stated no charge or accusation for these arrests.

Turkey has invaded Syria in derogation of international law (Nuremberg) with the blessing of the US and the “international community”.

According to press reports Turkey’s air force and artillery were involved in “pounding ISIS strongholds” in Jarablus. Turkey’s mandate according to an official communique is to “completely cleanse terrorists from its border region with Syria.”

The media applauds. Turkey has a humanitarian mission under the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine.

The truth of the matter is that Turkey sponsors the terrorists and then invades Syria on the pretext that it must protect Syria from the ISIS.

Erdogan is going after his own terrorists. The ISIS is sponsored and supported by the Turkish High command.

Since the onset of the Turkish invasion, extensive atrocities have been committed by Turkish forces under the cloak of combating Daesh and Al Qaeda. which are supported, trained and financed by Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Turkey has launched a ground incursion into Syria targeting Islamic State and Kurdish fighters near the town of Jarablus. Ankara says it wants to take the town to stop cross-border attacks, while the Kurds warn that Turkish troops will get into a quagmire.
“At 4:00 this morning, operations started in the north of Syria against terror groups which constantly threaten our country, like Daesh [Arabic name for Islamic State] and the PYD [he Democratic Union Party of Syria],” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara.

The Kurdish Firat news agency (ANFNews) reported that 29 civilians have been killed by the advancing Turkish and allied mercenary-terrorists so far. Some 3,000 ethnic Kurds have reportedly fled Jarablus and its neighboring areas since the Turkish operation became imminent. The Kurds object to the operation, believing it to be a ploy to prevent Kurdish militias from retaking the town.

An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that Turkish tanks and armored vehicles on Wednesday morning crossed the Syrian-Turkish borders towards Jarablos city under cover of the Us-led alliance’s air forces.

The source said that Syria asserts that fighting terrorism on Syrian terrorism by any side must be conducted by coordinating with the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army which has been fighting terrorism for over five years.
