Everyone has read about the illegal assault on fighters with the Popular Defense Forces who were targeted by American aircraft and artillery as they were lawfully moving north between the villages of Khushaam and Al-Taabiyya in northeast Dayr El-Zor. 

Some reports in the Western Media claim that over 100 “pro-Assad regime troops” were killed by the noble and democracy-loving yanks. 

That is not true.

The actual number of fighters killed in the convoy heading north is around 22, with civilians being the largest casualty. 

The civilians were accompanying the PDC, for safety’s sake, as they were heading back to their homes. 

The U.S. bombed civilians, murdering over 100 men, women and children.

Russian military: U.S.-led coalition struck Syrian troops conducting operation against Daesh cells in Deir Ezzor province

Syrian government forces were conducting a military operation against ISIS cells in the area of al-Isba in the province of Deir Ezzor when they were struck by the US-led coalition’s aircraft on February 7, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on February 8.

According to the statement, the ISIS recently increased activity in the area sparking response from the government forces.

“Shelling of the positions of Syrian pro-government forces has increased during the past days near the communities of Mazloum, At-Tabiyyah and Khsham in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate [Deir Ezzor province], to where the civilian population is returning. Radio interception revealed that the Syrian troops were shelled by militants from an ISIS sleeper cell that had activated in the area,” the ministry said.

A local militia was conducting reconnaissance actions in the area to detect and eliminate the ISIS cell when it was surprisingly shelled by mortars, rocket launched and then the US-led coalition’s attack helicopters. 25 militiamen were injured as a result of the attack.

The international civil society has on many occasions made it absolutely clear that the United States and its occupying troops don’t belong in Syria. They should end their manufactured war and leave.

At its simplest, there are many reasons for this:
– As the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq have demonstrated, the civilian death toll from US military aggression has been high. This is no way to pay tribute to those killed by America’s terror proxies ISIL and Al-Qaeda.
– In Syria, except for America’s favourite terrorists, no one supports Washington’s so-called ‘humanitarian intervention’, much less its bogus war on ISIL and Al-Qaeda.
– At the United Nations, there is no consensus that would permit America’s intervention or occupation of the Arab country. The presence of US occupying troops to effect regime change in Damascus risks broadening the conflict into another Cold War, while also inviting Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey to become even more heavily involved than they currently are. Such a broadening of the conflict is in nobody’s interests.

the United States presence in Syria is completely illegal both under international law and under the U.S. government’s War Powers Act. Syria is a sovereign state with a recognized government and there is no U.N. or Congressional mandate that permits Washington to station its soldiers, Marines and airmen within the country’s borders. The argument that the recent Authorizations to Use Military Force (AUMF) permitted the activity because groups linked to al-Qaeda were active there and the local government was unable to expel them is only thinly credible as the U.S. has also attacked Syrian Army forces and the militiamen linked to Syria’s ally Iran. That constitutes a war crime.

Trump can under the War Powers Act take military action to counter an imminent threat, which was never the case from Syria in any event, but after 60 days he has to cease or desist or go to Congress for authorization up to and possibly including a declaration of war. The military offensive against Syria began under President Barack Obama and it is far beyond that two-month window already, so egregiously in violation that some Congressmen are actually beginning to take notice. Democratic Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia has demanded that no military initiatives in Syria be undertaken without a Senate vote. He said on Thursday that

“I am deeply alarmed that yet again, the Trump administration continues to raise the risk of unnecessary war, disconnected from any firm policy objectives and core national security interests. To be clear, neither the 2001 or 2002 AUMFs provide authority to target Assad or Iranian proxies in Syria, and it is unacceptable for this action to be taken absent a vote and approval of Congress.”

The Syrian government with support from its Russian, Iranian, and Lebanese allies has embarked on a major military operation to retake parts of Syria’s northern governorate of Idlib. As it does so, the US and its regional allies are rushing to position themselves to ensure the permanent partition of Syria is achieved. 

As Syrian forces push deeper into Idlib they have come up against a large amount of foreign-provided weaponry including US anti-tank missiles and even fleets of armored vehicles including Panthera F9 armored personnel carriers – joint-developed by the UAE and Ukraine and manufactured in Turkey.

Despite the formidable arsenal provided to militants – the majority of which fight under the banner of Al Qaeda and its affiliates – Syria and its allies maintain air superiority. The US tried – and failed – to establish what US policymakers have called a “safe haven” or “buffer zone” in northern Syria where US military might could provide shelter for militants from Syrian and Russian airpower… … …

… … …And while US efforts to destroy Syria have fallen short, the US now permanently occupies territory within one of Iran’s closest and most important regional allies. Like a splinter under the skin turning septic, the US occupation will remain a constant potential source of wider infection both for Syria and the rest of the region.

The successes or failures of both Syria and its allies and Turkey in northern Syria over the following weeks and months will determine just how big a splinter is left as the conflict enters its final phases.

Turkey launched the “Olive Branch” military operation against the Kurdish region of Afrin, north-west of Syria. The code name was released by the Turkish Chief of Staff who explained that the operation aims to prevent the spread of the People’s Protection Units and the Democratic Union Party along the Syrian borders with Turkey, which represented a menace to the Turkish national security.

The US attitude towards the Kurds in Afrin was quite interesting, because the US General Vottel declared himself “not concerned about what is happening in the Kurdish enclave in the north-west of Syria” where Washington used the Kurds to attack ISIS. It is no longer surprising that the US look after its interests rather than its allies, as indeed happened in Kurdistan Iraq when Erbil declared its independence; it was promptly abandoned by the US.

But what are the details agreed before the beginning of the operation, allowing Turkey to venture into an area under the Russian control? And how did things get so far, pushing Turkey to venture into an area under Russian influence with military police, and following a clear threat from Damascus to shoot down any Turkish aircraft, with Russia strengthening its positions inside the city the day before the beginning of the Turkish operation “Olive Branch” against Afrin?

The Turkish armed forces have advanced into Azaz region East of Afrin within the framework of the Olive Branch Operation in Northern Syria, a Turkish media outlet reported on Monday.
The state-run Anadolu news agency reported that the Turkish army has continued its ground assault as the Olive Branch Operation entered its third day.

Anadolu said that the army men have advanced into the Azaz region too to expand the scope of the operation.

President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Turkey would not take a step back from the operation in the Afrin region. He also said that Ankara had an agreement with Russia regarding its military operation against a US-backed Kurdish militia.

After negotiations between Russia/Syria and the Kurds of Afrin had failed, the Russian side made a deal with Turkey. Now Turkey attacks Afrin while everyone else looks aside. The main impetus for this development was the announcement of a U.S. occupation in north-east Syria with the help of the Kurdish YPG/PKK. The occupation strategy is already failing. The Kurds made the false choice. They will be the losers of this game.

Turkey is now attacking the Afrin canton in full force. With help from one George Orwell the operation was dubbed “Olive Branch”.

The Turkish operation to go after Afrin was triggered by two events. The more important one was the U.S. announcement of a permanent occupation of north-east Syria with the help of a 30,000 men strong SDF “border protection force” consisting of mainly Kurds and some Arabs who earlier fought under ISIS.

The U.S. move was amateurish. It ignored the security needs of its NATO ally Turkey in exchange for an illegal and unsustainable occupation of north-east Syria. Secretary of State Tillerson tried to calm the Turks by claiming that the “border protection force” was not for border protection.

A second motive for the Turkish operation was the success of the Syrian army in the east-Idleb where “Free Syrian Army” and al-Qaeda Takfiris supported by Turkey were eliminated by Syrian Army attacks… … …

The Syrian war is taking a momentous turn with a full-fledged Turkish military operation on the northern Syrian town of Afrin having begun on Saturday. President Recep Erdogan announced today that a ground operation has also been launched alongside artillery bombardment and air strikes. He said an operation against the town of Manbij, some 140 miles to the east, will follow later.

Afrin and Manbij are presently controlled by the Syrian Kurdish forces aligned with the US. The US, which has 5 bases in northern Syria in the territories controlled by the Kurdish militia, has directly helped the occupation of Manbij by the Kurdish militia in 2016. Thus, the Turkish operation signifies a strategic defiance of the US. Washington had repeatedly urged Ankara against making any military moves against the Kurdish militia.

But what finally proved decisive seems to be the US plan to create a 30000-strong Kurdish force in northern Syria with the intention to use it as a proxy. Erdogan senses that the US is going ahead with the project to create a Kurdish enclave in northern Syria along the Turkish border as a strategic hub for its future interventions in Syria and Iraq. Of course, such a Kurdistan enclave will pose a long-term national security threat to Turkey by giving fillip to Kurdish separatists in Turkey. Erdogan kept pleading with Washington not to align with the Kurds but of no avail and has now decided to take matters into his hands.

Important gains were made against ISIL in Deir Ezzur in the past couple of weeks, making it clear that the Real War on Terror by the allied forces of Iran, Syria, Russia and Hezbollah is indeed nearing absolute victory.

Hezbollah has declared victory in the war along the Lebanese border already, while Iran and Russia say Syria is well on its way to defeating ISIL outright.

Per usual, the news hasn’t gone so well in Washington.

The regime-change cabal says “the claims of progress may be getting ahead of themselves,” with “fakestream” media claiming the allied forces are yet to clear the country of terrorists. This claim appears demonstrably false, as all credible maps of territory show the Syrian government is indeed well ahead of that:

– It is undeniable that ISIL and other foreign-backed terrorist groups have lost a lot of territory in recent months, and a lot of that territory has fallen to the government forces in both Iraq and Syria. The terrorists might still have some defenses building around certain areas of their remaining territory, but that does in no way mean they can make further pushes by the allied forces more difficult.

– As reported by Western media outlets, the overseas terrorists are returning home with all sorts of new combat skills and international contacts. US officials say their intention is no one should survive to return home. That’s never a realistic goal, and we’re seeing ISIL defectors by the hundreds leaving combat zones, with large numbers flocking to the Idlib province. Many have already crossed the border into Turkey. They are effectively out of the warzone, heading towards Europe and beyond.

– It is clear who these people who crossed are, and what countries they originated in. Now that they’re out of Syria, it’s not likely to be that difficult for them to navigate their way back to Europe, and we already know what they will do to their patrons in the future.

– The bigger picture behind Official Washington’s hysteria over the Syrian victory is the image of a decaying but dangerous American hegemon resisting the start of a new multipolar order. Iran and Russia have been chafing for years under a new world order in which one nation gets to serve as judge, jury, and high executioner. This, of course, is the United States. If the US says it will continue to occupy post-ISIL Syria militarily, then, it will see to it that Syria suffers accordingly… … …

Terrorists from the FSA mercenary-gangs said that their U.S. pupetters are pushing for retreat from southeast Syria.

Mercenary-terrorists of the so called gangs “Usoud al-Sharqiya” and “Martyr Ahmad Abdo”, both part of the “Free Syrian Army” deserters, said they were told to end fighting in the area by their backers of the “U.S. Central Intelligence Agency”, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, some of the neighboring states that support them. The news was also spread by the Reuters agency.

The majority of these gang members merged into “Jaysh al-Islam” (also known as Liwa al-Islam, Brigade of Islam, a terroristic coalition of Islamist and Salafist units who work alongside al-Nusra Front, al-Qaeda in Syria).

So, their Western and Arab backers asked them to pull out of the area and retreat into Jordan.

“There is an official request for us to leave the area”, said Badr al Din al Salamah, an openly declared mercenary commander in the Usoud al Sharqiya terrorist gang, a recipient of the military aid from the U.S.-backed alliance.

The conclusion is that they have received the order (by CIA and allied agencies) to end fighting in the area and retreat into Jordan: so Jordan is becoming the receptacle and den of al-Qaeda and all the terrorist mercenaries cutthroat in the area.

The game will not be over until these criminal delinquents and their godfathers will become kneeling and harmless.

Resistance against ZOG and the pro-Zionist forces will continue…

According to two reports coming out of Aleppo today, at least 14 U.S. Coalition military officers were captured this morning in an East Aleppo bunker by Syrian Special Forces (Syrian Spetsnaz).

Press conferences by John Kerry and Boris Johnson following Western foreign ministers’ meeting in London confirms military options to save Jihadi fighters have been abandoned and that the Western powers have accepted that the Syrian government with Russian support will recapture eastern Aleppo.

The US military would never agree to enforce a “no fly zone” (or a “no bombing zone”) without an aerial bombardment since by failing (in US parlance) to “degrade” the Syrian air defences through an aerial bombardment the US would be placing its aircraft and pilots enforcing the “no fly zone” (or “no bombing zone”) at risk.

In a situation where the air defences in question are not merely Syrian but Russian – and therefore far more capable of shooting down US aircraft – the whole idea of enforcing a “no bombing zone” without an aerial bombardment to “degrade” these defences is inconceivable.

It is inconceivable that the US political and military leadership would put the lives of its personnel in Syria at risk in this way, especially in a situation which could easily escalate into a full-blown military confrontation with the Russians.

That is something that neither the West’s political nor its military leadership is prepared to risk.

It is now clear that for the foreseeable future the government of Syria will be the government of President Bashar Al-Assad, which is and always has been the legitimate UN recognised government of Syria…. … …

The Obama administration’s support for the Kurds in Syria as well as its behavior following the coup of July 15, has led to a dramatic deterioration in US-Turkey relations. This will undoubtedly effect Erdogan’s willingness to allow the US to use its airbases for conducting bombing raids in Syria in the future. Democracy no longer exists in the West. In the US powerful private interest groups, such as the military-security complex, Wall Street, the Israel Lobby, agribusiness and the extractive industries of energy, timber and mining, have long exercised more control over government than the people. But now even the semblance of democracy has been abandoned.

Consider the political establishment’s response to the Brexit vote. Members of Parliament are saying that the vote is unacceptable and that Parliament has the right and responsibility to ignore the voice of the people.

The view now established in the West is that the people are not qualified to make political decisions. The position of the opponents of Brexit is clear: it simply is not a matter for the British people whether their sovereignty is given away to an unaccountable commission in Brussels.

Martin Schultz, President of the EU Parliament, puts it clearly: “It is not the EU philosophy that the crowd can decide its fate.”

The Western media have made it clear that they do not accept the people’s decision either. The vote is said to be “racist” and therefore can be disregarded as illegitimate.

Washington has no intention of permitting the British to exit the European Union. Washington did not work for 60 years to put all of Europe in the EU bag that Washington can control only to let democracy undo its achievement.

The Federal Reserve, its Wall Street allies, and its Bank of Japan and European Central Bank vassals will short the UK pound and equities, and the presstitutes will explain the decline in values as “the market’s” pronouncement that the British vote was a mistake. If Britain is actually permitted to leave, the two-year long negotiations will be used to tie the British into the EU so firmly that Britain leaves in name only.

No one with a brain believes that Europeans are happy that Washington and NATO are driving them into conflict with Russia…

Près de quatre mois ont passé et Kerry continue de dire que les Etats-Unis ont besoin de plus de temps pour séparer leurs forces par procuration d’Al-Qaïda.

Le porte-parole du Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov a confirmé l’attaque de vendredi et a dit aux journalistes qu’il était difficile de distinguer les différents groupes rebelles depuis le ciel.
Traduction: « Si vous n’êtes pas capables de séparer vos forces de celles d’Al-Qaïda, ni de différencier leurs zones d’action, ni de désigner les zones tenues exclusivement par les « modérés », nous n’en sommes pas capables non plus.

The U.S. is unwilling to stop the war on Syria and to settle the case at the negotiation table. It wants a 100% of its demands fulfilled, the dissolution of the Syrian government and state and the inauguration of a U.S. proxy administration in Syria.

The bucket was full and Kerry’s latest request for another three month pause of attacking al-Qaeda was the drop that let it overflow.

Russia now responded by hitting the U.S. where it did not expect to be hit:

Russian warplanes hit Pentagon-backed Syrian fighters with a barrage of airstrikes earlier this week, disregarding several warnings from U.S. commanders in what American military officials called the most provocative act since Moscow’s air campaign in Syria began last year.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov appeared to confirm the attack Friday, telling reporters it was difficult to distinguish different rebel groups from the air. ~ Translation: “If you can not separate your forces from al-Qaeda and differentiate and designate exclusively “moderate” zones we can not do so either”.

The strikes hit a base near the Jordanian border, far from areas where the Russians were previously active, and targeted U.S.-backed forces battling the Islamic State militants. …These latest strikes occurred on the other side of the country from the usual Russian operations, around Tanf, a town near where the borders of Jordan, Iraq, and Syria meet. …The Russian strike hit a small rebel base for staging forces and equipment in a desolate, unpopulated area near the border. About 180 rebels were there as part of the Pentagon’s program to train and equip fighters against Islamic State.
When the first strikes hit, the rebels called a U.S. command center in Qatar, where the Pentagon orchestrates the daily air war against Islamic State.
U.S. jets came and the Russian jets went away. The U.S. jets left to refuel, the Russian jets came back and hit again. Allegedly two U.S. proxy fighters were killed and 18 were wounded.

Earlier today another such attack hit the same target.

This was no accident but a well planned operation and the Russian spokesperson’s response makes the intend clear…

A US airborne operation to rescue a senior ISIL leader in Southern Zobab city in Ta’iz province failed after the Yemeni army and popular forces killed the terrorist commander, Arab media reports disclosed on Thursday.

“Abu Ayoub al-Ansari was killed by the Yemeni army and popular forces before the US helicopter could rescue take him out of the battlefield, the Arabic-language media outlest,” Alalam quoted an unnamed military source as saying on Thursday.

Meantime, another ISIL leader, Abu Hameh, was also killed by the Yemeni army.

The Yemeni army and popular forces continued their military gains against the Saudi-led Arab coalition in Yemen, killing hundreds of them in heavy clashes over the past 48 hours.

The army and popular units killed at least 378 Saudi forces in Midi desert in the past two days.

The Saudi forces were trying to penetrate into Midi desert in the past two days, but were pushed back after sustaining heavy losses.

At least 15 military vehicles of the Saudi forces were also destroyed.

In the giant exclusive interview Obama has given to The Atlantic he has revealed that he is now extremely proud for backing down from air strikes against Syria that he very nearly launched in the summer of 2013.

Obama now says he is now very proud of not going through with the Syria air strikes on that fateful summer.

He also frames his decision to turn back from the recipe as his defiance of US foreign policy establishment.

But that is not in fact what happened.

The Syrian Armed Forces on Saturday morning stormed the 4th Battalion Base of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Golan Heights and took full control over the base after fierce clashes with the FSA mercenaries.

At sunrise on Saturday morning, the Syrian Army’s 90th Brigade of the 9th Armored Division, in coordination with Fouj Al-Joulani (Golan Regiment) and Liwaa Suqour Al-Quneitra (Al-Quneitra Hawks Brigade) of the National Defense Forces (NDF), launched a counter-assault at the 4th Battalion Base outside of the town of Taranjah, resulting in a series of intense firefights with the Free Syrian Army’s Southern Front Brigades.

The FSA has now lost all of their previous gains from the September offensive that put them in position to attack the Syrian government strongholds of Khan Arnabeh and Hadar inside the Golan Heights of the Quneitra province.

Obama’s regime try to protect its moderate cannibals.

The New York Times in its recent article, “Russians Strike Targets in Syria, but Not ISIS Areas,” attempts to frame Russia’s recent actions in Syria as dishonest and dangerous. It reports:

~”Russian aircraft carried out a bombing attack against Syrian opposition fighters on Wednesday, including at least one group trained by the C.I.A., eliciting angry protests from American officials and plunging the complex sectarian war there into dangerous new territory”~.

This of course would only make Russia’s actions dishonest or dangerous if groups trained by the US CIA were in fact the “moderates” the US claims they are. However, they are not, and thus Russia’s actions are duly justified as is the expansion of their current policy.

For months now, after years of headlines confirming the US has been covertly arming militants in Syria for the purpose of overthrowing the government in Damascus, a narrative revolving around tens of thousands of these militants “defecting” to Al Nusra and the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS/ISIL) has been peddled to the public by the Western media and US politicians to account for the apparent failure of America’s alleged policy of creating an army of “moderates” to both fight ISIS/Al Qaeda and the Syrian government.

In reality, from the beginning, there were never any moderates. Starting as early as 2007, years before the war in Syria began, the US as a matter of policy had long since decided to intentionally fund and support the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood – for all intents and purposes the political wing of Al Qaeda – and begin arming militants affiliated with Al Qaeda itself.

Russia is Bombing Al Qaeda

This leads back to the most recent New York Times article. Russia is not arbitrarily bombing “moderates” backed by the US in Syria to stave off allegedly “legitimate” opposition to the government in Damascus – Russia is bombing terrorists who are either operating under the banner of Al Qaeda but are portrayed as otherwise by the US, or will inevitably end up turning their fighters and weapons over to Al Qaeda. Russia is bombing Al Qaeda.

At least 70 ‘moderate’ mercenary-terrorists, trained by the US military, and known as ‘rebels of the Division 30’, have handed over their weapons to al-Nusra terrorists upon entry into Syria.

Armed mercenaries of the so called ‘Division 30’, who have been just graduated from a US-led military training program in Turkey, surrendered to the al-Qaeda-affiliated Jabhat al-Nusra (sponsored by Turkey’s military intelligence) in Syria, quoted a number of media sources.

In a statement on Twitter, the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist gang reported that the new group from ‘Division 30’ handed over all of its weapons, medium weaponry, a very large amount of ammunition and a number of pick-ups.

The Division’s commander, Anas Ibrahim Obaid, explained to the al-Nusra terrorists that he had tricked the US military to get guns.

He promised to issue a statement repudiating ‘Division 30’, the USA-led coalition, and those who trained him.

Last month, al-Nusra gangs attacked the ‘Division 30’ headquarter, killing five, wounding 18, and kidnapping some others.

By SyrianPatriots ~ Al-Nusra Front, a clone of Al-Qaeda for Syria, has freed several members of a U.S.-trained squad of ‘moderate terrorists’ that they kidnapped two weeks ago.

In a public statement published by several media, the ‘Division 30’ [US-trained ‘rebel group’ who is the first faction of ‘graduates’ belonging to a US-led training programme in Turkey] said seven of its members had been freed by Nusra after being captured in late July.

“Seven ‘Division-30’-fighters who were being held by the brothers in Nusra Front have been freed”, an official statement released by the unit has said.

“We welcome this noble initiative and urge the brothers of Nusra and hope that they will release in the coming hours the group’s commander and other fighters,” the statement continued.

It is clear that the USA’s regime has been forced to show completely its true face, and the one of the so called ‘moderate Syrian opposition’, the worst scum of renegades and terrorists.

The first batch of ‘Division 30’ trainees, are also known as the New Syrian Force (NSF). NSF consists of some 54 fighters, and has reportedly ceased to exist as a battle unit, with at least half of its personnel killed, captured or missing, CBS reported.

The first experience of using Syrian rebels against hardened Islamic extremists suggests that using American-trained fighters in small groups is of no use, even with the help of the US Air Force ready to provide support. The NSF units are not only unable to attain their objectives, but rather are not motivated enough to stand the fight.

Defense Minister Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij stressed that the Syrian Army had managed to stand in the face of Takfiri terrorism and colonial projects, offering great examples in sacrifice and heroism that will be remembered by generations to come.

Minister al-Freij told the Syrian TV on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of establishing the Syrian Arab Army that the Syrian Army has stood up to everyone who sought to tamper with Syria’s sovereignty stemming from its absolute belief in victory.

The Geopolitics of American Global Decline ~ Washington’s Great Game and Why It’s Failing

Alfred McCoy points out, if you look at Washington’s military bases (which, if anything, were expanded in the post-Soviet era), its conflicts, and the focus of its foreign policy, American attempts to “contain” the heartlands of Eurasia, especially Russia and China, have never ended. Given the passage of almost a quarter of a century since the Cold War era, the map of those garrisons and the conflicts that go with them still looks eerily familiar.

McCoy again makes clear: the U.S. was not the first imperial power to put its energy into “containing” Eurasia. In 1945, when World War II ended with Great Britain and its empire hollowed out and in a state of exhaustion, the U.S. inherited a no-name version of “containment” policy from the British before Kennan even thought to use the term. It’s odd to realize that “containment” as imperial policy has a history that is now, in a sense, more than two centuries old. It’s strange enough, in fact, that McCoy turns his attention to the subject to help make sense of the edgy U.S.-China relationship for the rest of this century.
