President Vladimir Putin in his New Year’s Address to the Nation wished Russians important changes, and thanked them for believing in Russia. The President’s traditional speech went on air in the easternmost time zone of the country, where the year 2018 has already come. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin wished his compatriots “changes for the better” in 2018 in his traditional televised New Year’s address Sunday. “Let the New Year bring changes for the better in the life of every person and every family,” Putin told Russians in a speech aired by state television and reported by Russian agencies. Residents of the country’s most easternly region of Kamchatka will be the first to hear the speech that is shown a few minutes before midnight in each of Russia’s eleven time zones. The Russian leader addressed “special wishes” to “all of those who are working now, fulfilling their military or professional duty,” agencies reported. He also thanked Russians for “believing in themselves and in our country.” He also wished “peace and prosperity to our great Russia, the dear and only one.”

President al-Assad and his family visit injured army personnel in Homs and its countryside

On the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, President Bashar al-Assad , accompanied by Mrs. Asma al-Assad and their children, visited on Friday a number of injured Army and Armed Forces personnel in Homs city and its countryside.

In Homs city, President al-Assad and his family visited Michael Tannous, who sustained injuries while performing his duties in defending the homeland that caused disability rated at 100% and who is receiving treatment and care by “Jarih al-Watan” program which also helped him to integrate into the society.

President al-Assad and his family also visited the injured Yassin Hwiri in Oum Hartin village in the countryside of Homs who sustained paraplegia while he was defending the homeland… … …

Christian denominations in Syria celebrated Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, the messenger of love and peace, on Monday by holding masses and prayers in churches.

Prayers and masses were held in a number of provinces, including Lattakia, Sweida and Hasaka, highlighting the values of love, tolerance and peace that Jesus Christ brought to humanity and praying for God for security and stability to prevail over all Syrian territory.

Aleppo locals are celebrating the 1st anniversary of defeating terrorism which coincides with Christmas celebrations through lighting up Christmas trees at the main squares and the houses announcing the return of peace and security to the city, and praying for the return of peace to every inch of the homeland.

On the occasion of Christmas and New Year, Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center distributed on Friday school bags, stationery and milk to the children of the martyrs in Ghassan Zwan School and those of the Russian community in Lattakia and its countryside.

Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church Joseph Absi participated in the prayer along with a number of heads and representatives of Christian denominations in Damascus and the Ambassador of the Vatican in Damascus Cardinal Mario Zenari.

In a statement read on behalf of the heads of the Christian denominations in Damascus on what is happening in Palestine, Patriarch Aphram II said the US President’s decision over al-Quds is unjust and contrary to UN resolutions… … …
