An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry has said that de-escalation zone agreements reached in Astana-6 meeting do not legitimize the existence of any Turkish force on the Syrian territories, adding that the Syrian Arab Republic government considers such existence “illegal”.

The source noted that the Syrian government deputized the Russian and Iranian parties to complete the final agreement on Idleb province as long as they are the two guarantor states of the Syrian side, pointing out that it is an opportunity for the Turkish side and Erdogan’s government which guarantee the armed terrorist groups to retreat from their position in support of terrorism and stop arming, financing and supplying terrorists and sending them to Syria which will help restoring security to these areas…………..

Armed men in more regions laid down weapons and joined peace agreement with the Syrian Army, the Russian Defense Ministry said in its latest report.

The Ministry said in its report that gunmen in more regions have ended fight with Syrian government forces, adding, “The total number of regions, towns and villages that have thus far endorsed peace agreement with Damascus stands at 2,131.”

The ministry added that talks are underway between the government officials and representatives of militants in the province of Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Homs, Quneitra and Damascus to join the peace plan…..

(TURN ON ENG SUBS) ~ Representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the moderate Syrian opposition have reached an agreement on the third de-escalation zone north of the city of Homs, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.
“On July 31, a new round of talks between representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the moderate Syrian opposition was held in Cairo,” he said. “The meeting’s participants reached an agreement concerning the functioning of the third de-escalation zone north of the city of Homs, which will include 84 settlements with a population of more than 147,000,” Konashenkov added.
The general pointed out that in early July, during the fifth round of talks in Kazakhstan’s capital of Astana, a decision had been made to establish four de-escalation zones in Syria. Two of them – in southwest Syria and on the outskirts of Damascus (in Eastern Ghouta) – have already been set up.
A ceasefire in the third de-escalation zone will enter into force on August 3 starting from 12:00 p.m. local time, Konashenkov said.
“According to the reached agreement, today, on August 3, starting from 12:00 p.m. local time, armed units of the moderate opposition and government troops will cease fire from all weapons,” he said.
“I would like to emphasize that, just like in the two previously set up de-escalation zones, the ceasefire in the Homs de-escalation zone will not apply to members of the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra terror groups [both outlawed in Russia – TASS],” Konashenkov added. “Moreover, in accordance with the agreement, the moderate opposition has pledged to drive all the units joining the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra out of the areas of the Homs Governorate that it controls,” the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman said.
According to him, starting from August 4, Russian military police will establish two check points along the line of contact north of Homs, as well as three observation posts. Konashenkov said that military police were entrusted with the tasks of separating the opposing sides, monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as medical and casualty evacuation. “All the sick and wounded will be provided with an opportunity to undergo medical treatment either at the Russian military hospital or Syrian hospitals,” Konashenkov noted.

“The opposition, in turn, will unblock the section of the Homs-Hama highway passing through the de-escalation zone,” he added. According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman, local councils will address the issues of everyday life in the de-escalation zone. Besides, a National Justice Committee is planned to be set up which will comprise “representatives of the opposition and all major ethnic, political and religious groups residing in the region,” the Russian general added.
“Russia will continue its efforts aimed at restoring peace in Syria,” Konashenkov said. He pointed out that in the past ten days, as many as 52 settlements had joined the ceasefire agreement, while Russia had carried out 41 humanitarian missions, providing more than 55 tonnes of food to Syrian civilians.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters that following the Astana talks that a major split occured between the Syrian ‘opposition’, during a press conference in Moscow, Friday.

Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson (Russian): “After the meeting in Astana, a split occurred in the ranks of anti-government armed formations, as Jabhat-al-Nusra terrorists attempted massive attacks on the groups of armed opposition that sent their representatives to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. In this situation, a part of the moderate opposition requested Ahrar al-Sham to protect them, as they are a more powerful group which is seeking neutrality in the conflict of Jabhat-al Nusra, with supporters present at the Astana meeting. Meanwhile, the gangs whose chieftains are set on continuing the armed struggle with the government have started to actively pledge allegiance to Jabhat al-Nusra. In order to unite its supporters, al-Nusra has created a new structure – the United Liberation of the Levant – whose militants have engaged in fighting against Ahrar al-Sham.”

Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson (Russian): “We also noticed in statements from the political and armed opposition, that they are trying to prejudge the results of the UN Geneva negotiations; which are scheduled to take place on February 20. Once again the opposition representatives set ultimatum-like preconditions with which they stipulate their participation in the peace talks in Geneva. Separately, I would like to mention the demand for an apology from the United Nations and the Arab League Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura for his statement, where he proposed to form an opposition delegation himself, if the oppositionists would not do that by themselves. From our side, we fully support De Mistura’s determination for a quick continuation of the intra-Syrian contacts in Geneva. We think that the attempts to delay or to postpone the peace talks are unacceptable.”

“Stop playing with fire and betting on losing cards. Everybody has lost, including the countries supporting terrorism. Terrorism has arrived in their own backyards, which is something that we warned of from the very beginning,” said al-Jaafari.

“It was distressful that we had to sit in the same room with other Syrians that are linked to foreign agendas and are working for foreign authorities, and some of them are committed to terrorist groups,” said al-Jaafari, noting that this also happened before in Moscow and Geneva.

The Army and the Armed Forces General Command on Thursday declared a comprehensive cessation of hostilities across all the territories of the Syrian Arab Republic starting at 00:00 on 30/12/2016 in the wake of the victories and advances achieved by the Syrian armed forces on more than a front.

The Command added that the terrorist organizations of Jabhat al-Nusra and the ISIS and the groups affiliated to them are excluded from the agreement, pointing out that the ceasefire comes with the aim of creating suitable circumstances for supporting the political track of the crisis in Syria.

Moscow has blasted as “outrageous twisting of the facts” a statement by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, who said the EU was the only party providing aid to Syria.

“It’s outrageous twisting of facts which ignores what Russia has been doing for a long time”, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also officially responded to Mogherini’s statement “with surprise,”and said that Russia, “unlike other international players, is actively supplying thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to various regions in Syria, including the liberated areas in eastern Aleppo, at the risk of Russian military lives.”

“If the high representative [Mogherini] means providing assistance to terrorists and extremists, then we don’t participate in this, indeed”, the statement added….

The Russian official’s statement comes after the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said in Berlin on Wednesday, that the EU “are the ones – the ones, not among the ones – that are providing humanitarian aid, in Syria and around. Calls to stop liberation of East-Aleppo resemble attempts to save their puppets. Russia reiterates call on Western countries to join real efforts to defeat terrrosts in Syria, according to official statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia and China have vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on immediate seven-day ceasefire in the Syrian city of Aleppo, which was submitted by Egypt, New Zealand and Spain. Russian Foreign Minister earlier described the draft resolution as “counterproductive”.
Before the vote, Russia’s UN envoy said that the country would vote against the document, informing UNSC members of Moscow’s decision.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the resolution ran counter to a solution that the US and Russia are trying to agree on for Aleppo.
“Taking into consideration the outcome of the previous pauses [in the conflict], there is absolutely no doubt that the 10-day ceasefire, which backers of the draft resolution generously want to provide the militants with, would surely be used for regrouping and rearming the extremists and would slow down the liberation of eastern Aleppo from them,” Lavrov said.

Russian and Syrian military aircraft have not conducted any missions in Aleppo for 13 days, but the situation in the embattled Syrian city has not improved, with radical groups shelling residential areas and preventing civilians from leaving, defense analyst Igor Korotchenko told Radio Sputnik, adding that such pauses help terrorists “to regroup.”

“The situation [in Aleppo] has not really stabilized,” he said. “Urban fighting is ongoing. The Syrian Arab Army, assisted by Hezbollah fighters has been active in the city. But no airstrikes have been conducted.”

“However, twelve Syrians managed to reach safe areas of the city last night through the corridor in the al-Mashar neighborhood,” the ministry said.
“According to the refugees, they were allowed to leave after giving a $300 bribe per person to one of the field commanders. Three families had to sell all of their belongings.”

The public sphere is recently actively used to force Anti-Russian rhetoric in the context of the Syrian crisis. There are attempts to diminish Russia’s role and depict our country as the prime cause of all the troubles in Syria. It is speculated that Moscow counts on the military solution of the conflict. The aim of this campaign is simple – to conceal the true culprits of the failure of the CoH (cessation of hostilities) in Syria and disguise the true causes of the non-fulfillment of the Russia-US agreements.

The Russian Federation made a thorough fact-based comparative analysis of implementation of the Russia-US agreements, It includes all aspects such as compliance with and monitoring of CoH, granting of humanitarian access to besieged areas, joint fight against terrorism.

Russia guaranteed the implementation of the CoH by the Syrian government. The US on the other hand were not capable to insure the implementation of the CoH by the armed groups. From February to September the opposition groups that are supposed to be under the US control committed 2,031 violations of the CoH, which claimed lives of 3,532 military personnel and 12,800 civilians.
Furthermore, the US failed to fulfill their February promise to separate Al- Nusra Front from “moderate” opposition. Russia on the other hand since March has been prepared to transfer to Washington the maps showing the zones where according to our data the terrorists are holding territory.

In the list of groups that confirmed their commitment to the CoH presented by Washington 2 belong to ISIS and 8 to the Al-Nusra Front. The American list is discredited by the inclusion of cutthroats from Ahrar al-Sham and Nour al-Din al-Zenki. Foreign Ministers of Syria, Russia and Iran held Friday a joint press conference after a tripartite meeting held in Moscow.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem described the atmosphere during the tripartite meeting as “positive” and “very comfortable ”.

“We in Syria have become convinced of the sincerity of the Russian and Iranian efforts in helping us rout terrorism,” al-Moallem said.

Al-Moallem added that he conveyed the Syrian leadership, government and people’s thanks to President Putin and the friendly people of Russia for the active contribution in fighting terrorism, and the thanks of President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people to the Iranian leadership and President Hassan Rouhani for standing by the Syrian army units in their war against terrorism.

He noted that those waging the propaganda against Russia today are the same who have been conspiring against Syria for five years, stressing that “we will not be discouraged by this propaganda targeting us from continuing the fight against terrorism, especially in Aleppo.”

For his part, the Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that the armed terrorist groups have breached the humanitarian truce in Aleppo and other states failed to prevent these groups from continuing their operations and using civilians as humanitarian shields, indicating that Syria and Russia have halted their military operations against terrorists in the city and the Russian and Syrian warplanes have not flown closer than 10 kilometers to Aleppo for ten days.

”We hoped that humanitarian pauses and the stop of airstrikes will be used by our American partners to convince the so-called moderate opposition to separate from Jabhat al-Nusra and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, which are in fact those who lead all groups of armed opposition in eastern Aleppo. Putin extends humanitarian pause in Aleppo to evacuate injured people and allow gunmen to withdraw

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to extend the humanitarian pause in Aleppo in order to evacuate injured people and allow militants to withdraw from city.

Peskov said that Putin didn’t authorize the resumption of airstrikes on terrorists’ positions in Aleppo, thereby extending the humanitarian pause, as Putin considers resuming airstrikes in Aleppo to be no useful currently, adding that this pause and suspension of Russian and Syrian aerial operations only cover Aleppo.

The Spokesman said that Putin made the decision based on evaluations of the Russian General Staff and data on developments on the ground, and the Russian President believes that there’s a possibility for extending the pause in order to evacuate injured people and allow militants to withdraw from city, and that will also allow Washington to fulfill its obligations regarding separating the “moderate opposition” from terrorists.

Earlier today, the Russian General Staff announced that it has asked President Putin for permission to resume airstrikes on terrorists’ sites in Aleppo.

“Due to the fact that civilians continue to die, militants have renewed active hostilities against government forces, we have appealed to the Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces to resume airstrikes on illegal armed groups in eastern Aleppo,” chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate Lt. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy said.

“All flights by Russian and Syrian warplanes inside the ten-kilometer zone around the city have remained paused for a tenth day running, although the situation around Aleppo remains complicated,” he said….>>>

What makes it more disturbing is that if criminality can be so capriciously covered-up by institutions that are relied upon for law and accountability then the world really is in a dangerous, dark place.
The latest atrocity involved US coalition aircraft reportedly killing 15 women and injuring 50 others when they hit a funeral procession near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Friday.

Shamefully, the Western news media, which have been blaring allegations of war crimes against Russia over its military operations in Syria, were largely silent on the massacre near Kirkuk.
Only days before that barbarity, there were several other mass atrocities committed by American allies elsewhere in the Middle East.

In Syria, two F-16 fighter jets belonging to NATO member Belgium killed six civilians in the village of Hassadjek, near Aleppo.
Within hours of that murderous assault, warplanes from Turkey, another NATO member, were responsible for killing some 150 Syrian civilians in multiple air raids also in Aleppo countryside, according to Syrian state media.

Meanwhile, in Yemen, the US-backed Saudi air bombardment continued its slaughter of innocents despite cynically declaring a non-entity ceasefire earlier in the week. Three farmers were killed in Saudi air strikes in Saada province – almost a week after American and Saudi warplanes massacred 140 people attending a funeral ceremony in the capital Sanaa. In press statements on Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that the Russian air force and the Syrian air force have completely ceased any flights over Aleppo in the last seven days.

On Monday, 48 women and children were able to get out of the eastern neighborhoods of the city and they reached the positions of the Syrian Army, in the freed western-neighborhoods of the Aleppo’s Governorate, which has provided all the needs for their residence and the required aid services.

But the NATO-backed jihadists, gangs of mercenary-terrorists, are always bombarding with rockets Aleppo, resulting in deaths-injuries among the population.

Three people have been killed, including a seven-year-old girl, and 28 more injured after terrorists shelled residential areas of government-held West Aleppo.

At the same time, the US-led coalition has recently pushed ahead with its assault on the Iraqi city of Mosul, with its population of 1.5 million people, while Russia at the same time has been assisting the Syrian army in fighting militants in Aleppo, a city of 2 million people.

Islamist militants have shelled a ‘humanitarian corridor’ set up to allow civilians to escape from eastern Aleppo, RIA Novosti reported.

The shelling came amid a ceasefire declared the by Syrian military and Russian Air Force.

“On October 20, starting at 8am, a humanitarian pause is to be introduced in Aleppo to allow civilians to escape and sick and injured people to be evacuated, and for militants to leave the eastern part of the city,” Lt. Gen. Sergey Rudskoy said.

At least six mortar shells were fired into the ‘humanitarian corridor’ by militants in the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood of eastern Aleppo.

Small arms fire was also directed at a Syrian Army checkpoint, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday.

The exit from the corridor is approximately 200 meters from Islamist positions and apparently within reach of their small arms and mortar fire, according to the report.

Reports on civilian casualties were not immediately available.

The Aleppo residents, some sick and wounded, were trying to flee Islamist-controlled eastern Aleppo with an escort from UN and Syrian Red Crescent personnel.

Meanwhile, other ‘humanitarian corridors’ on Aleppo’s Castello Road remain safe, and the evacuation of civilians is expected to begin shortly, with buses and ambulances on standby ready to go, RIA Novosti reported… … …

Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian and Syrian air forces had stopped airstrikes on Aleppo from 10:00am local time (0700 GMT).
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, in a televised meeting with military officials, said strikes had been halted from 10:00 on Tuesday.
On Monday, The Russian Defense Ministry announced a humanitarian pause in Aleppo starting from next Thursday at 08:00 am (05:00 GMT) till 04:00 pm to allow the passage of the civilians and the evacuation of the sick and the injured.
Shoigu called on the countries that have influence over armed groups in eastern Aleppo to convince their leaders to stop military action and abandon the city.

Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said that permanent ceasefire in the city of Aleppo is possible if Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists are taken out from the eastern parts of the city.

Chief of the Main Operations Department of the Russian General Staff Lieutenant General Sergey Rudskoy stressed that the terrorists in Aleppo are still receiving the US-made TOW antitank missile systems from their backers.

Once again a plan for democratic transition in Syria has been drawn up by a coalition of opposition groups meeting in London, supported by the usual suspects in the shape of Turkey, the EU, US, and Gulf States.

It is described as a detailed plan committing Syria to democratic and religious pluralism. Predictably, and the reason why it is a non-starter, it contains the pre-condition of Bashar al-Assad’s removal from power.

The coalition behind this ludicrous scheme goes by the name of the Higher Negotiating Committee (HNC), and is said to comprise thirty different ‘moderate’ political and military groups united in the objective of removing Assad as the country’s president.

Who exactly these people represent in Syria itself, nobody knows. What we do know is that Assad retains the support of the vast majority of his people, who will not accept any colonial arrangement to depose their president.

(SANA) ~ Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Friday reaching a deal to enhance the cessation of hostilities in Syria that would begin on Monday and that Russia and the US will coordinate to face terrorism and to provide the suitable conditions for the resumption of the inter-Syrian dialogue.

Lavrov added that the first step in the deal is holding a 48-hour truce then extending it for 48 more hours, and later the truce will be extended for seven consecutive days and after that a joint Russian-US coordination center will be established to coordinate air attacks against agreed terrorist targets in Syria.

The final statement of the International Syria Support Group meeting in Vienna will focus on ceasefire and sending humanitarian aid to the besieged Syrian people, Lebanese media reported on Tuesday.

The Libya theatre is re-opening in order to distract from the setback to Washington and its accomplices in their losing enterprise in Syria.

Leave aside the misnomer “civil war”for a moment. The assertion that Washington is expending diplomacy to end violence in Syria is the jarring term. Anyone who has followed the Syrian conflict with independent intelligence –as opposed to Western media misinformation –will not buy that claim.

The violence in Syria has from the outset been a foreign-backed covert war for regime change. Washington, Britain, France and their regional clients in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Israel launched the aggression to topple the Russian and Iranian-allied Assad government in March 2011.

The country was infiltrated with a proxy army of terrorists – of which ISIS is but one component –so as to achieve regime change by plunging Syria into a bloodbath.

The notion of “civil war”that the Western media continually peddle is a contemptible misnomer, used for the purpose of concealing the real nature of the war –a foreign-backed aggression, entirely illegal and responsible for the near-destruction of a nation.

AN AGREEMENT HAS BEEN BROKERED IN MINSK TO STOP HOSTILITIES IN UKRAINE

“I believe we agreed on a big deal. We agreed to a ceasefire starting at 00:00 on February 15” Russian President Vladimir Putin told the media after the talks were finished. Putin said that Kiev’s unwillingness to hold direct talks with the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics was among the reasons it took so much time to reach an agreement. “They may be unrecognized, but we have to deal with real life here, and if everyone wants to agree and have sustainable relations, direct contacts are needed”, Putin said.

IF BROKEN, NO NEW MEMORANDUM POSSIBLE

Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko, who signed the Minsk document, said it required additional consultation and warned that “IF THESE TERMS ARE BROKEN, THERE WILL BE NO NEW MEETINGS OR MEMORANDA”. He added that he and Igor Plotnitsky, the head of Lugansk People’s Republic, “agreed to sign the document due to guarantees from the president of Russia, chancellor of Germany and president of France,” with the hope that it would allow their people to “achieve peaceful development.”

The RT crew of four, including correspondents Roman Kosarev and Anna Knishenko, were near a checkpoint from which a bus with Debaltsevo refugees was supposed to leave for Donetsk when they came under fire.

Journalists are now waiting for a humanitarian convoy. Refugees find themselves in this humanitarian corridor, which the Ukrainian gangsters from Kiev side seems not to respect.
