In the USA, pilots are not allowed to watch videos of Su-35 demonstration flights at MAKS-2017 international air show. Allegedly, the videos of the Russian Su-35 aircraft in action may demoralise US pilots.

Russia has already received orders for Su-35 fighter jets from China, India, Indonesia, and other countries. The Russian Defence Ministry plans to buy about 90 of such planes. Russia currently takes the lead in the segment of heavy multipurpose fighters, and the launch of the Su-35 will only strengthen her position.

The flight and combat performance of the Su-35 makes this aircraft superior to all existing fourth generation fighters. What is more, the Su-35 is on par with fifth-generation aircraft. This is a state-of-the-art multipurpose fighter that ensures superiority in the air and effectively strikes ground and above-water targets.

In 2008, a simulated air combat involving Su-35 and US fighters F-22, F/A-18 Super Hornet and F-35 was conducted at US Air Force in Hikam (Hawaii Islands). The result was disappointing: in 20 air battles against the Su-35, the Americans scored just one victory.

The unsurpassed maneuverability, electronic and weapon systems of the Su-35 make this fighter the best among other comparable Western analogues, such as the F-15 Eagle.

Russian Forces launch large-scale anti-terrorism operation in Syria

The Russian forces are delivering massive strikes against terrorists’ factories in Syria, the defense minister said.

“The strikes are targeting depots with ammunition and training centers, and also plants for the production of various mass destruction weapons,” he said.

Russian Sukhoi Su-33 combat planes have started their operation from the board of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, Shoigu said.

“Before that, we conducted very thorough and substantial reconnaissance of all the targets. Proceeding from this, the basic targets were determined,” the defense minister said.

The defense minister named depots with ammunition, terrorists’ amassments and training centers, and also factories for the production of various mass destruction weapons among such targets.

NATO and EU ships were put on full alert along the British coast as a Russian naval fleet passed through the English Channel on its way to the Mediterranean.

The Admiral Kuznetsov, a Soviet-era aircraft carrier that can carry more than 50 planes, crossed international waters in the North Sea with seven other vessels on Friday. Locals and media gathered in Dover to watch the fleet pass by into the channel.

Russia’s TASS news agency quotes the Russia’s defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, as saying the warships are making their tour to bolster the “combat capabilities” of the country’s Mediterranean fleet.

“Special focus will be made on safeguarding the security of maritime traffic and other types of maritime economic activity of Russia and also on responding to the new kinds of modern threats such as piracy and international terrorism.”

The Russian Navy has not said if it intends to use the ships for any specific battle missions in the Middle East. The group will “ensure a naval presence in operationally significant areas of the world’s oceans,” the Russian Navy said in an official press release…>>>…

March 4 saw the 55th anniversary of the first successful anti-ballistic missile intercept performed by a Soviet defensive system, the Sistema A, which used the V-1000 anti-missile equipped with a conventional blast-fragmentation warhead, to destroy the warhead launched by an R-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile.

Russian defense industry has not been sitting still in the face of NATO ABM expansion. Long-range air defense systems like the S-300, S-400, and the upcoming S-500 have considerable ability to destroy ballistic threats, though none of them have been tested against the extremely fast ICBM re-entry vehicles which are far harder to defeat than short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles.

Moreover, Russia is working on the successor to A-135, the A-235 which will likewise use multiple types of missiles to provide an ability to destroy incoming warheads at long ranges and at extremely high altitudes bordering on orbital.

Whether or not such deployments ever take place largely depends on the future course of Russia-NATO relations. The only reason the ABM Treaty was ever signed and ratified was USSR’s demonstrated ability to deploy effective ABM systems.

US withdrawal from that treaty was driven by its leaders’ arrogant assumption that the US could launch a new nuclear arms race with no country able to counter it.

Once Russia demonstrates its ability to field the next-generation of strategic anti-ballistic systems, we may the world’s great powers once again return to the negotiating table.

If the Russian Aerospace Forces’ performance took NATO by surprise, it is because earlier Russian operations did not suggest that level of ability. Russian aviation took serious losses in the 2008 conflict with Georgia: 7 aircraft shot down including a Tu-22M bomber, 4 damaged, or one loss per each 17 combat missions. There was practically no new aircraft procurement since 1994. Russian aircrews flew far fewer hours than their NATO counterparts.

But the Georgia conflict served as a wake-up call and led to reforms which proved both crucial and successful.

Russian airpower was reduced in numbers, and reorganized into 8 air bases, each supporting several air groups based on individual airfields, which allowed individual pilots to get more flying time….

…By 2020, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) are expected to have at their disposal about 1500 mostly modern combat aircraft, including 130 heavy bombers such as the Tu-160, Tu-95MS, and Tu-22M, over 800 fighters, and over 500 tactical bombers and attack aircraft.

With the Syrian Army advancing across the front, Saudi Arabia has announced its willingness to escalate the conflict by supplying portable surface-to-air missiles to terrorists fighting against Syrian forces and, presumably, the Russian forces assisting them.

But is it a genuine threat, or just part of Riyadh’s campaign of information warfare?

In the long term, Russian military expert Viktor Murakhovski suggests, Saudi SAM deliveries “will not significantly influence the course and outcome of the ongoing fighting in Syria.”

Would they force Syrian and Russian aircraft to adjust their tactics? Definitely.

Could they lead to losses for Syrian aircraft? Possibly.

Could they result in Russia assisting the Syrian Air Force by providing it with modern SAM countermeasures? Certainly.

The Russian Aerospace Forces commander says the video footage of Russian bomber’s crash was shot from the territory controlled by terrorists from North Caucasus and former Soviet republics.

The commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Viktor Bondarev, said said the Turkish fighters that attacked the Su-24M were waiting for the Russian bomber in the air. Besides, according to Russian military data, the bomber was in the Turkish Air Force’s radar stations coverage area for over 30 minutes.

Bondarev also noted that the video footage of Russian bomber’s crash was shot from the territory controlled by terrorists from North Caucasus and former Soviet republics. He also noted that the person shooting the video knew the time and place of the attack in advance.

According to him, the Turkish media’s readiness to cover the incident was amazingly surprising. The general recalled that the Russian jet was hit at 10:24 on November 25. A private Turkish TV company posted the video 90 minutes later.

Senior Syrian military commanders announced that the army’s recent groundbreaking victory at Kuweires military airbase paved the way for further advances in other parts of Aleppo.

During the operations carried out to lift the siege on the airport, the army killed hundreds of ISIS terrorists and destroyed their dens and cells with all weapons inside.

The military spokesman of the Syrian army affirmed that units of the army continue their operations against terrorist organizations, dealing concentrated blows on their gatherings in Daraa, Homs, and Aleppo, Lattakia, Dir Ezzor, Hama and Damascus countryside.

The army resumed its operations in Harasta in Damascus countryside, establishing control on al-Mashtal hill, al-Maksar range, al-Aman Billah station and al-Smadi, killing a large number of terrorists and destroying their dens in the region and in Daraya in the Western Ghouta.

In Aleppo, the military spokesman said that the army’s operations, in cooperation with popular defense groups, ended up with establishing control on more than 250 KM and restoring security to tens of villages and towns in the region.

Units of the army, in cooperation with popular defense groups, had the ability to re-open the important road of Athria-Khanaser and Salamyia and to ensure a safe passage for this pivotal route, inflicting heavy losses upon ISISI terrorists while many others escaped into Raqqa.

The Syrian Air Forces raided DAESH and Jabhat al-Nusra gatherings in the surroundings of Kweris, the Air Force Academy, Um Arkilah, destroying command-centers and convoys of vehicles in al-Sheikh Ahmad, Al-Jabriyah and Tal Ahmar in Aleppo countryside.

The Syrian Army announced that the county’s Ground, Air and Popular Forces alongside the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Russian warplanes continued pounding the militant groups’ positions in different parts of the Aleppo and made major advances in various parts of the province in the last 48 hours.

Battlefield sources announced that DAESH-ISIS positions in Manbej, al-Halabieh, Rams al-Abd and Sweisan were stormed in a joint operation of the Syrian ground and air forces.

The sources said that DAESH mercenaries suffered heavy death toll in the Syrian fighter jets’ heavy bombardments in the abovementioned locations.

Following the Syrian airstrikes, the army raided the group’s gathering centers in Manbej, al- Halabieh, Rams al-Abd and Sweisan and destroyed the militant sites’ infrastructures.

Meantime, the positions of al-Nusra Front and other terrorist groups were destroyed in military operations in a neighborhood in the Syrian city of Aleppo on Tuesday.

Reports said the Syrian army troops demolished terrorists’ positions in Bani Zeid neighborhood in Aleppo city.

Also, the Syrian fighter jets pounded terrorists’ positions in the Southern countryside of Aleppo, and killed a large number of mercenaries.

Syrian warplanes bombed positions of terrorists from al-Nusra Front and other terrorist group in the towns of al-Haded and al-Zurbeh in the Southern countryside of Aleppo, killing a large number of militants and destroying their arms and ammunition and vehicles equipped with machine guns.

Russia has deployed missile defense systems to Syria to protect its military forces and equipment stationed in the Arab country, the head of the Russian air force says.

Referring to the potential threats against Russian military forces and equipment in Syria, Colonel General Viktor Bondarev said fighter jets could be hijacked in countries neighboring Syria and used to attack the Russian forces.

“We have taken into account all possible threats. We have sent not only fighters, attack aircraft, bombers, and helicopters, but also missile defense systems because any sort of force majeure situation may occur,” Bondarev said in an interview with Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya.

“For example, the stealing of a warplane in a neighboring country with Syria or having to return fire. We need to be prepared for that,” he said.

When the aircraft was passing along the Turkish border, the onboard equipment set off an alarm indicating the plane was being targeted by some kind of air defense system,” Bondarev told the Russian daily.

“The pilot had to take a split-second decision to perform an anti-missile maneuver. Well, [the plane] went a little bit into Turkish airspace. We acknowledged it frankly,” he added.

A Russian fighter jet was forced to enter Turkish airspace in early October while performing an evasive maneuver against a surface-to-air missile system, the commander of Russia’s Air Force said.

“Our fighter jet was on a combat mission in Northern Syria in very dense cloud conditions. When the aircraft was passing along the Turkish border, the onboard equipment set off an alarm indicating the plane was being targeted by some kind of air defense system,” Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev told Komsomolskaya Pravda daily.

Aleksandr Grushko, Russia’s envoy to the Western military alliance, said:
“The impression is that the incident in Turkish airspace was used in order to include NATO as an organization into the information campaign unleashed in the West, which perverts and distorts the purposes of the operation conducted by the Russian air forces in Syria”.

Battlefield sources said on Saturday that the Syrian army, backed by Hezbollah fighters and Russian warplanes, are about to start the last phase of their operations to push back the terrorists from the entire city of Aleppo and its countryside.

The source said that very good cooperation and coordination among the Syrian armed forces, Hezbollah and the Russian air force, along with widening gaps, disunity and hopelessness among the ranks of the militants, promise the imminent liberation of the Northern province of Aleppo.

In mid-October, several fighters of the Lebanese Hezbollah arrived in Aleppo to join the Syrian army to carry out a large-scale anti-militant operation in the Northern city of Aleppo in the coming days with the Russian aerial backup.

The sources said at the time that after the victories of the Syrian army and Hezbollah in Zabadani and conclusion a six-month-long ceasefire agreement with the militants in the nearby areas of Syria-Lebanon border, a 200-member group of Hezbollah fighter has been dispatched to the battlefronts in Aleppo.

The sources said that the experienced fighters of Hezbollah, the Syrian army troops and the Russia air force are to carry out a massive joint operation to recapture Aleppo, the second important city in Syria, in the coming day.

On Saturday, Syrian Army and Hezbollah troops purged all militants from Khan Touman in the Northern province of Aleppo, and seized full control over the town after killing or wounding a large number of the terrorists.

The Russian Air Force carried out 70 sorties in the past 24 hours targeting 120 terrorist targets in Idleb, Homs, Aleppo, Damascus Countryside, and Lattakia’s northern countryside.
The sorties resulted in destroyed 11 command centers for terrorist gangs, including one in the surroundings of Mesraba in Damascus Countryside, one in al-Sheikh Ahmad village in Aleppo’s eastern countryside, and one for Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization in Talbiseh in Homs countryside.
The sorties also resulted in destroying 13 rocket launch pads and artillery emplacements, including rocket launchers hidden in the mountains in southeast Damascus Countryside.
Military sources added that that the sorties destroyed 2 workshops for manufacturing explosive devices, 70 fortified positions and provisioning points, 21 training bases and centers, one of them in Salma area in Lattakia’s northern countryside, 3 munitions depots, and a grouping of vehicles used for transporting weapons and terrorists in Idleb countryside.

Groups of ISIS terrorists, most of them of foreign nationalities, infiltrated in the past few hours Um al-Janayen village and the farms surrounding al-Sfeira city in southeastern Aleppo province in an attempt to control it.
The army units in the area confronted the terrorists, leaving dozens of them dead and destroying several of tanks and vehicles they used in their attack.

The spokesman of the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirmed that the Syrian Arab Army reestablished control over 50 villages and farms in the southern countryside of Aleppo and a number of strategic hills in Lattakia countryside, expanding control area in Damascus Countryside.

An army unit killed all members of a terrorist group belonging to the so called the “Islamic Union for Cham Soldiers” in Daraya area in Western Ghouta.

Another army unit in cooperation with popular defense groups restored control over Dahrit al-Kasara in the northern countryside of Quneitra.

In Daraa, the army foiled terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate from al-Gharia al-Gharbia towards the Electricity Station northeast of Daraa and launched concentrated strikes against terrorists’ gatherings in Attman town, Makas al-Hajar and the crossing between al-Mantra and al-Yadoda.

The Russian Air Force, in cooperation with Syrian Air Force, carried out 164 sorties, 60 of them during the night, targeting 285 terrorist targets in Hama, Idleb, Lattakia countryside, Damascus countryside, Aleppo, and Deir Ezzor on Friday Saturday.

A military source said the sorties resulted in destroying of 24 command centers for terrorists, 3 workshops for manufacturing explosive devices and rockets, 21 ammo and fuel depots, 233 fortified positions, bases, and camps.

The source went on to say that in the past 24 hours, 59 sorties targeting 94 terrorist targets were carried out, resulting in destroying 8 command centers for terrorists, 5 ammo depots, 3 convoys of vehicles loaded with weapons and munitions, 6 artillery positions, 38 training camps and bases, and 43 fortified sites.

Military spokesman of the Syrian Arab army said that the Syrian Army in cooperation with the Army’s Air Force successfully continued their operations against dens and gatherings of terrorist organizations in Eastern Ghouta, Homs, Hama, Lattakia and Aleppo countryside.

The military spokesman said in a statement that army units established full control over al-Majbal area in Harasta and broke the defensive lines of the terrorist organization in Nouleh town in the Eastern Ghouta, killing a number of terrorists.

The statement added that army units eliminated a terrorist group while they were infiltrating from Zqaq valley towards Bard village in the eastern countryside of Daraa and destroyed their fortifications in Atman town in the northern countryside of Daraa.

In the northern countryside of Homs, the military source said that army units in cooperation with popular defense groups established control over the area extending from south of the entrance of Iza’aa , Gherbal, al-Qanatri, the southern part of Teir Ma’ala town, killing a number of terrorists, injuring others and continued advance in their operations towards Jwalik, Sneisel, Teir ma’ala and al-Ghantou.

A military source said the Russian Air Force, in cooperation with the Syrian Air Force, carried out 46 sorties within the past 24 hours which targeted 83 terrorist sites in the Syrian provinces of Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, Hama, Idleb, Damascus Countryside, and Lattakia.

The source told SANA that the airstrikes resulted in destroying 16 command centers for terrorists, 4 weapons and ammo depots, a workshop for manufacturing explosives, 2 bases, 61 fortified positions, and number of rockets launchers and artillery pieces.

The Syrian army and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance forces seized back control over 21 regions in the Northern province of Aleppo in the last week.

The army and the resistance forces won back 12 regions only in the past 48 hours: 1-Tanks Battalion, 2-Qala’at Al-Najam village, 3-Hadadin village, 4-Al-Shahid hilltops, 5-Zeytouna Farms, 6-Al-Kabdar Garrison, 7-Mleiha Village, 8-Abtayn Village and its surrounding farms, 9-Al-Vazihi village, 10-Kodar village, 11-Al-Sabeqiya village and 12-Shaqidla town.

Earlier this year, photos first emerged of a new High Altitude, Long Endurance (HALE) UAV termed the Divine Eagle that foreign observers believe is designed to detect and eliminate stealth enemy aircraft far from the Chinese mainland.

“[The Divine Eagle’s] long range anti-stealth capabilities can be used against both aircraft, like the B-2 bomber, and warships such as the DDG-1000 destroyer.
