The director of the Fake Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdulrahman, alias Osama Ali Suleiman
The faked “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” in Syria, but based in London, is aware that their real backgrounds are going to come out. There may be also a good reason why a credible network as Voltaire Network calls this “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” just an office of the Muslim Brotherhood, based within London.
Today, the responsible but questionable people behind this dubious “Observatory” (finally, no real observatory, of course) distributed this public letter to the journalists. It is somehow funny, because already in last year, some networks, websites and blogs were aware, that this propaganda-tool, the “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights”, has a huge lack of credibility and also an enormous lack of evidence and verifications.
But despite good questions, interesting reports and investigative bloggers (e.g. Syria: A Corner Shop Supplies the World’s Press), a lot of so-called journalists still used and use the questionable information of this “office”, based in London.
So the questions remain and journalists should be asked if they still take care about the dogmas of real journalism at their daily work. If not, are these journalists aware that they are might being misused by questionable “interests”?
Maybe they know about. As stated already often here and there, this “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” is a useful tool for the false propaganda against the Syrian government and President al-Assad. It delivers a wrong image, based on non-confirmed reports and dubious information. Maybe the U.S. administration and also the French and British government are happy about such an “office” for “Human Rights”, based in London.
We also published some information and content about this “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” already. As Voltaire Network, Hinter der Fichte and others, we are convinced that this “observatory” is indeed fabricated to be used for questionable interests and goals.
Apparently the responsible “persons” behind this made-up “Human Rights” organization got aware now, that their real story and background is going to come out soon. Maybe because there are still some journalists, who care more about the truth than about their job or/and work specifications. Maybe some also are still in line with the dogmas of real journalism.
In the end it is no surprise and was to predict, that such a statement will be published by the dubious people behind this “useful” but not credible Human Rights organization.
The “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” published this statement / letter to journalists – make up your own opinion about this:
“Dear Sir/Madam
We would like to apologize for any confusion that you may be currently experiencing with regards to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
We would like to take this opportunity to give you some background information for your benefit.
Firstly, there is NO individual by the name of Rami Abdulrahman. This is just an alias that was being used by all SOHR members and mainly by the founders of the SOHR when articles were being originally published.
There is however a gentleman based in Coventry whose primary profession is installing satellite dishes who volunteered at the SOHR in late 2010. This gentleman is called Mr. Osama Ali Suleiman and as a volunteer he contributed in publishing the Arabic language news articles on the SOHR website syriahr.net. This was the full extent of his remit and contribution, as a volunteer of this organization. It is worth noting that Mr. Osama is unable to communicate in the English language and only had a very modest level of education in Syria.
In August 2011 the board of trustees asked Mr. Osama to cease publishing news articles onto the syriahr.net website as it was alleged that he had established links with Mr. Rifaat Al Assad (the uncle of the current Syrian President Bashar Al Assad). The very nature of the articles being published was also controversial as they were not verified by any other member of SOHR and they referred to incidents and deaths suffered by the Syrian regime security forces. The reasons as to why this raised suspicions is because the Observatory does not have any links with Syrian regime members in order to be able to state or verify any such incidents.
When Mr. Osama was asked to give up his volunteer post he retaliated by changing all the username and password details of the syriahr.net website so that only he could access it and publish material and subsequently declared himself chairman. He started using the Rami Abdulrahman alias which the rest of the trustees abandoned as it was decided after the eruption of the Syrian uprising on the 15 march 2011 that, in the interest of transparency, only real names were to be used from that point on when communicating with the press.
The rest of the organization decided that due to the swift developing nature of the Syrian uprising no time should be wasted in altercating with Mr. Osama as the website that he was controlling doesn’t ever hold any useful/recent information on Syria and that he would not be able to actually engage in any activity with the English speaking press. As a result syriahr.org was established and it gets regularly updated (in both Arabic and English) with the developments on the ground in Syria.
Ignoring Mr. Osama for this length of time appears to have been a misjudgment by the rest of the SOHR members as it appears that Mr. Osama has since sought and acquired some support from fellow friends in order to boost his claims and spoil the reputation of the SOHR. We are deeply concerned as we have been informed that Mr. Osama himself is a member of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and these friends are suspected to be affiliated with same organization as well.
Further proof of the isolation of Mr. Osama is given by the fact that he currently has no operational team and that he acts authoritatively with no peers to verify, support or challenge his work.
You will already be aware that the SOHR is London based. This is because the majority of our members are based in London whereas Mr. Osama is solely based in Coventry. We would like to take this opportunity to confirm that the Trustees of the SOHR are:
* Mr. Fadi Al-Haddad (Co-founder of SOHR, Based in London)
* Mrs. Maya Fateh (Co-founder of the SOHR and Writer – Now in Syria)
* Dr. Lina Jamoul (Team Leader with Citizens UK in East London)
* Mr. Husam Aldin Mohammed (Chief Editor of the Alquds Newspaper in London)
* Mr. Mohammed Antabli (Businessman and Writer Based in London)
* Mr. Ghassan Ibrahim (Chairman of the Arab Global Network in London)
* Mr. Abdul Sayed Omar (Project Manager & Human Rights Activist Based in Wolverhampton and Works in London)
* Dr. Mousab Azzawi (Consultant Pathologist & Human Rights Activist Based in London)
We at the SOHR are now seeking legal advice and are preparing to take legal action against Mr. Osama whilst we remain committed to our cause of flagging human rights abuses committed in Syria to the international community and media.

Il direttore dell’Osservatorio Falso siriano per i diritti umani, Rami Abdulrahman,alias Osama Ali Suleiman.
Il falso “Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani” in Siria, ma con sede a Londra, è consapevole del fatto che i loro scopi reali stiano per venire fuori.
Ci può essere anche una buona ragione, per una rete credibile come Voltaire Net chiamare questo “Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani” solo un “ufficio della Fratellanza Musulmana, con sede in Londra”.
Oggi, i responsabili alla base di questo molto discutibile “Osservatorio” hanno distribuito una lettera pubblica ai giornalisti. E ‘in qualche modo divertente, perché già l’anno scorso, alcune reti, siti web e blog erano consapevoli, a riguardo al fatto che questo attrezzo per la propaganda, l’Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani”, ha una grande mancanza di credibilità ed è anche privo di prove e verifiche .
Ma nonostante le buone domande, relazioni interessanti e blogger di indagine, un sacco di cosiddetti giornalisti ancora usano utilizzare le informazioni discutibili di questo “ufficio”, con sede a Londra.
Quindi, la questione resta se i giornalisti abbiano ancora a cuore i dogmi del giornalismo vero e proprio nel loro lavoro quotidiano. In caso contrario, sono questi giornalisti consapevoli che potrebbero essere sfruttati da discutibili “interessi” di parte?
Forse lo sanno. Come detto già più volte qua e là, questo “Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani” è un utile strumento per la falsa propaganda contro il governo e il presidente siriano al-Assad. Si offre una immagine sbagliata, basata su non-confermati rapporti ed informazioni dubbie. Forse l’amministrazione americana, ed anche il governo francese e britannico, sono felici di come lavori quest’ufficio “per i diritti umani”, con sede a Londra.
Abbiamo anche già pubblicato alcune informazioni e contenuti di questo “Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani”. Come Voltaire Net, Hinter der Fichte e altri, siamo convinti che questo “osservatorio” è effettivamente stato fabbricato per essere utilizzato in favore di discutibili interessi e obiettivi.
A quanto pare, i responsabili dietro a questa organizzazione prefabricata di “Human Rights”, stanno diventando ora consapevoli che la loro vera storia ed il loro lavoro occulto stia venendo rapidamente alla luce. Forse perché ci sono ancora alcuni giornalisti che hanno ancora a cuore la verità nel loro. Forse alcuni sono anche ancora in linea con i dogmi del giornalismo vero.
Alla fine, non è una sorpresa, ed era prevedibile, che una dichiarazione sarebbe stata pubblicata da queste dubbie persone che si nascondono dietro a questa “comoda”, ma non credibile, ‘organizzazione per i diritti umani’.
L’ “Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani”, ha rilasciato questa dichiarazione/lettera per i giornalisti – a voi le vostre proprie conclusioni in merito:

“Gentile signore/signora,
Vorremmo chiedere scusa per la confusione che si può essere attualmente verificata per quanto riguarda l’Osservatorio siriano per i diritti umani (SOHR).
Vorremmo cogliere l’occasione per darvi alcune informazioni di base a vostro beneficio.
In primo luogo, non c’è nessun individuo con il nome di Rami Abdulrahman. Questo è solo un alias che veniva utilizzato da tutti i membri SOHR e soprattutto dai fondatori del SOHR quando gli articoli venivano originariamente pubblicati.
Vi è tuttavia un signore, con sede a Coventry, la cui principale professione è l’installazione di antenne paraboliche, che volontariamente opera come SOHR dalla fine del 2010.
Questo signore si chiama Mr. Osama Ali Suleiman e come volontario ha contribuito a pubblicare gli articoli di notizie in lingua araba sul sito http://www.syriahr.net/ SOHR. Questa è stata la piena portata della sua competenza ed il contributo, come volontario, dato a questa organizzazione. Vale la pena notare che il signor Osama non è in grado di comunicare in lingua inglese ed ha avuto solo un livello molto modesto di istruzione in Siria.
Nel mese di agosto 2011 il consiglio di amministrazione ha chiesto al signor Osama di cessare la pubblicazione delle notizie sul sito web syriahr.net affermando che egli aveva stabilito legami con il signor Rifaat Al Assad (lo zio dell’attuale presidente siriano Bashar Al Assad). La natura stessa degli articoli pubblicati era anche discutibile in quanto non erano verificabili da alcun membro del SOHR, particolarmente gli incidenti e le morti subite da parte delle forze di sicurezza del governo siriano. Le ragioni per cui vennero sollevatidubbi era perché l’Osservatorio non ha alcun legame con i membri del governo siriano, al fine di essere in grado di dichiarare o verificare eventuali incidenti di questo tipo.
Quando al signor Osama è stato chiesto di rinunciare al suo incarico volontario, replicò cambiando tutti i dettagli di accesso al sito, username e password di syriahr.net, in modo che solo lui poteva accedere e pubblicare materiale e, successivamente, si è dichiarato presidente. Ha iniziato ad usare l’alias Rami Abdulrahman, che il resto degli amministratori aveva abbandonato, come fu deciso dopo l’inizio della protesta siriana il 15 marzo 2011, in quanto nell’interesse della trasparenza solo i nomi reali si sarebbero potuti utilizzare, da quel quel momento in poi, per comunicare con la stampa.
Il resto dell’organizzazione decise che, a causa della natura del rapido sviluppo della rivolta siriana, non si sarebbe dovuto perdere tempo in relazioni con il signor Osama, in quanto il sito da lui controllato non contiene alcuna informazione, recente o utile, sulla Siria, e che egli non sarebbe in grado di impegnarsi effettivamente in attività con la stampa di lingua inglese. Come risultato è stato istituito il sito web http://www.syriahr.org che viene aggiornato regolarmente (in arabo e inglese) con gli sviluppi sul terreno in Siria.
Ignorare il signor Osama per tutto questo intervallo di tempo, sembra essere stato un errore di valutazione da parte del resto dei membri del SOHR, in quanto appare chiaro che il signor Osama abbia da allora cercato e acquistato un certo sostegno da parte di amici colleghi, al fine di promuovere le sue pubblicazioni e rovinare la reputazione del SOHR.
Siamo profondamente preoccupati anche perchè ci è stato comunicato che lo stesso signor Osama è un membro del PKK (Kurdistan Workers ‘Party) e queste persone sono sospettate di essere pure affiliate alla stessa organizzazione.
Un’ulteriore prova dell’isolamento del signor Osama è dato dal fatto che attualmente non abbia una squadra di lavoro operativa e che agisca con autorevolezza senza pari, per poter verificare, sostenere o contestare il suo lavoro.
Sarete anche già consapevoli che l’SOHR è di base a Londra. Questo perché la maggioranza dei nostri iscritti sono residenti a Londra, mentre il signor Osama vive unicamente a Coventry. Vorremmo cogliere l’occasione per confermare che gli amministratori del SOHR sono i seguenti:
