They were executed in both Marjeh Square in Damascus and Burj Square in Beirut.
Minister al-Zoubi added that confronting terrorism in Syria and supporting Syrian Army and all the upcoming constitutional events, including presidential elections, are national decisions, stressing that “Neither the UN Secretary-General, the U.S. President, Gulf emirs and agents nor the Turks have the right to comment or interfere in these decisions.”
“We should go for the presidential elections with conviction and out of belief in our homeland… we should choose who can protect Syria and the unity of Army and institutions… who can combat terrorism and protects sovereignty of Syria,” he added.
He reiterated the need for all citizens to take part in the presidential elections.
Al-Zoubi said that the presidential elections are a special democratic experience in the history of Syria, adding that boycotting elections would be a political isolation not a practice.
“All martyrs, including media martyrs, are distinguished persons with extraordinary characteristics” , Minister al-Zoubi said.
Shaaban stresses need to establish Arab media reference to preserve Arabism
Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban said that what the West called “the Arab Spring” is a bloody, sectarian and terrorist winter in which some Arabic-speaking media channels played a significant role promoting it.
In a speech during the ceremony, Shaaban said that western media has become a means for aggression against peoples, and since the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, the number of the journalists who have been killed has become unprecedented, with reporters seeking to convey the reality of events becoming “living martyrs”.
“We need to distinguish friends from enemies and dispose of the fake ideas planted by colonialist powers on the neutrality, democracy and objectivity of its media” she added.
Shaaban highlighted the need to establish an Arab media reference which preserve the rank and identity of the Arab nation and adopt cutting-edge scientific and documentary methods.
She referred to the fact that “the choir of agents which were adopted by the western

Al-Baath senior official: Syrian media managed to face US-Zionist scheme
Member of the Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party, Dr. Khalaf al-Muftah, said that Syrians have faced a war that targeted Syrian media and journalists, adding that the Syrian media outlets have been successful in confronting the US- Zionist scheme that had tried to blackout reality and present the issue in Syria as a “confrontation between an authoritarian regime and freedom-seeker people”.
In his speech, al-Muftah said Syria was able, thanks to its army, media and leadership, to foil the scheme adding that the Syrian journalists have been side by side with the Syrian soldiers in confronting the takfiri terrorist plot hatched against the country.
“We are not only defending Syria, we are defending Arabism and true Islam,” he said, calling for establishing a resistant Arab media system to face the western media and its affiliates.
