The Russian Navy Base in Tartous, on the Syrian coast, will continue its mission

Russian Naval General Staff stated that the Technical Support Team for the Russian Navy in Tartous, harbour and town, will continue to carry out the tasks in the fulfillment of its missions regardless of the developments of the events in Syria.

In a press release in Petersburg, a source at the Russian Naval General Staff declared that Russia is not planning to abandon its naval facility in Tartous whatever happens in Syria.

Anyway, the Russian Naval General Staff affirmed that any repairs and reconstruction works at its Tartous base will not be done without coordination with the Syrian legitimate authority.
