France, the United States and Britain have rejected the text of a Russian-drafted UN resolution aimed at putting an end to Turkey’s military actions and provocations in Syria.

French Ambassador to the UN Francois Delattre claimed Moscow’s backing of Syrian forces had led to a dangerous escalation in the war.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power said the draft would distract the world, adding Moscow should instead focus on implementing a UN resolution passed in December that endorsed an international road map for a Syria peace process.

Turkey has called for a joint ground operation in Syria, insisting it is the only way to stop the country’s five-year war.

This as the country stands accused of fuelling the war by supporting terrorist groups like Daesh and Nusra Front.

General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that border guards in the Syrian Arab Army Intelligence observed crowds of terrorist groups and two convoys of vehicles loaded with terrorists in two border areas with Turkey in parallel with cutting off power in the two areas.

The General Command said in statement: “Erdogan’s government continues to escalate tension on the Syrian-Turkish border.”

The General Command of the Army pointed out that on November 28th crowds of armed terrorist groups were monitored in the border area. In the morning of the next day, two convoys of vehicles loaded with terrorists were seen crossing the borders, adding that border guards in the Syrian Army had targeted them, forcing one of the convoys to return to the Turkish territory while the other escaped inside the Syrian lands.

Two senior leaders of the Turkey-based Syrian opposition resigned after widening differences as Saudi Arabia has heightened its efforts to bring the numerous dissident and militant groups closer to each other.

Self-proclaimed prime minister of the Syrian opposition Ahmad Tumeh was the first one to resign as a result of deepening rifts among dissident factions.

Tumeh said he resigned because of “a military coup taking place in the midst of” what he called (Syria’s) “revolution”.

Another Syrian opposition leader, Michel Kilo, also resigned to show his solidarity with Tumeh.

The resignations take place while the Riyadh government is trying hard to gather the Syrian opposition groups and armed dissident factions in the Saudi capital in the coming days

Tumeh’s resignation came after the terrorists of Al-Jbahat al-Shamia who have control over Bab al-Salama border crossing near the Turkish borders prevented him and his accompanying delegation from crossing into Syria, the Arabic language al-Quds al-Arabi reported.
