France, the United States and Britain have rejected the text of a Russian-drafted UN resolution aimed at putting an end to Turkey’s military actions and provocations in Syria.
French Ambassador to the UN Francois Delattre claimed Moscow’s backing of Syrian forces had led to a dangerous escalation in the war.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power said the draft would distract the world, adding Moscow should instead focus on implementing a UN resolution passed in December that endorsed an international road map for a Syria peace process.
Turkey has called for a joint ground operation in Syria, insisting it is the only way to stop the country’s five-year war.
This as the country stands accused of fuelling the war by supporting terrorist groups like Daesh and Nusra Front.
