(Baku) ~ Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, affirmed on Monday that the OPCW-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism on Syria “has worked in a shameful way” depending in its conclusions on data proposed by nongovernmental institutions, some of which linked to terrorists.

In a speech on Monday before Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Lavrov said that Mechanism acted in a shameful way, and instead of sending its experts to the sites of the chemical incidents, it only depended on video recordings handed over to it by nongovernmental organizations working on the ground, which have been involved with extremists and even with terrorists.

He added that the U.S. and Britain are trying to impose their decisions on extending the JIM mandate in unethical ways, wondering how senior diplomats use such immoral methods.

Lavrov reiterated that Moscow called for preventing the use of terrorists to achieve short-term goals, saying that fighting terrorism entails exerting joint international efforts, and that Russia and Azerbaijan are willing to make the task of combating terrorism very far from the double standards… … …

The successful military preparations now being made by allied forces of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Russia for a potential major confrontation to finish off ISIL (Daesh, ISIS, IS…) means the American caliphate’s days in the Levant are numbered.

The soldiers of the Syrian government forces have discovered and saved the pilot of the downed Syrian Air Force airplane.

On Sunday, a US jet shot down a Syrian Su-22 fighter-bomber near the city of Tabqah.

The command of the Syrian army stated that the downed Su-22 was involved in anti-Daesh operations and accused the (U.S.) coalition of coordinating strikes with the terrorists.

“The soldiers of General Suheil al-Hassan discovered and rescued the pilot of the downed aircraft. Now, Col. Fahd is in hospital and nothing threatens his life,” the source said………………..

The U.S. has moved HIMARS long-range rocket launchers from Jordan to its base in At Tanf in Syria, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed, adding that the hardware could be used against Syrian government forces.

The U.S. deployment of multiple rocket launchers in southern Syria may be intended to cut off Syrian government troops from allies in Iraq, since there are no Islamic State militants in the region to target with the weapons, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

According to our data, there are no ISIL troops remaining in the area. Placing there such powerful weapons, which are not suited well to fight ISIL in the first place, is considered by some experts in Russia and other nations as an attempt to create an additional military force, which would prevent the creation of stable channels between government and pro-government forces in Syria and their partners in neighboring Iraq”, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Australia halts air strikes in Syria following U.S. downing of Syrian jet

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has suspended flights over Syria after Russia said it halted sky incident prevention interactions with the US as of June 19, due to the coalition’s downing of a Damascus warplane.
“As a precautionary measure, Australian Defence Force (ADF) strike operations into Syria have temporarily ceased”, Australia’s Department of Defense said in a statement.
Russian military halted cooperation with its US counterparts in the framework of the Memorandum on the Prevention of Incidents and Ensuring Air Safety in Syria. The statement came a day after the coalition’s attack on a Syrian Su-22 government warplane, which was carrying out operations against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists 40km from Raqqa.
The US military failed to use the communication line with Russia concerning this attack, despite the fact that Russian warplanes were also on a mission in Syrian airspace at the time, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The ministry added that all aircraft of the US-led coalition in the area of its combat missions in Syria will be tracked by Russian forces as “air targets”.

The letters stressed that it is shameful that the United States justified its terrible act by promoting open lies through official statements that are far from the truth, particularly since the Syrian fighter plane fell in an area close to al-Rasafa area which is controlled by ISIS, contrary to what the American side claimed, as the pilot was seen parachuting in areas controlled by ISIS terrorists.

The Ministry clarified that the disgraceful US military aggression confirms beyond any doubt the reality of the US position in support of terrorism and which aims to undermine the ability of the Syrian Arab Army which, along with its allies, is the only effective force exercising its legitimate right to fight terrorism across the country.

The Ministry added that this aggression cannot be separated from the crimes committed by the United States and its alliance against the Syrian Arab Army and its allies in al-Tanf area………………………

The Syrian Army General Command announced on Sunday that the air force of the so-called “international coalition” targeted one of the army’s warplanes in al-Rasafah region in Raqqa southern countryside while it was carrying out a combatant mission against ISIS terrorist organization, causing it to down and missing its pilot.
The General command said in a statement that the flagrant aggression undoubtedly affirms the US real stance in support of terrorism which aims to affect the capability of the Syrian Arab army- the only active force- along with its allies that practice its legitimate right in combating terrorism all over Syria.
“The attack stresses coordination between the U.S. and ISIS, and it reveals the evil intentions of the U.S. in administrating terrorism and investing it to pass the US-Zionist project in the region”, the statement added.
It affirmed that such aggressions would not affect the Syrian Arab army in its determination to continue the fight against ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations and to restore security and stability to all Syrian territories.

Syria-based journalist Alaa Ebrahim told RT he believes that, by downing the Syrian jet, Washington is aiming to redraw “red lines” in the Syrian conflict and show that it won’t tolerate the involvement of the Syrian government’s armed forces in the liberation of Raqqa.
“The Americans don’t want the Syrian army to advance towards Deir ez-Zor, they don’t want the Syrian army to actually be present as part of the operation to retake Raqqa or to take any part of the Raqqa province,” Ebrahim said.
“The US is trying to draw boundaries in the Syrian conflict and red lines for the Syrian army not to cross them,” he added.

A Syrian jet has been shot down by a surface-to-air missile, most likely with a BGM-71 TOW, an American-made missile launcher, in Aleppo Province, Syrian state TV reported, adding that the pilot ejected.

The pilot of the downed plane has been taken by Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front to one of its bases.

Photos supposedly showing the pilot have also appeared, the comments suggesting he is alive.

The ceasefire in Syria was introduced on February 27. It doesn’t apply to Islamic State (Daesh, IS, ISIS/ISIL), Al-Nusra Front and other organizations designated by the UN’s Security Council as ‘terrorists’.

A total of 97 armed groups operating in Syria have agreed to the ceasefire.

Both IS and Al-Nusra Front jihadists have been intensifying their military action in Syria recently, especially in Aleppo province.
