With some 125 strikes in three days the Russian bombing campaign continues to build. The U.S. media is now obsessed with the idea that Russia may be using “dumb bombs” instead of Syrian “barrel bombs”.

This is becoming a new propaganda meme. But videos from the Russian airbase show that at least some of the planes are armed with KAB-500S-E satellite (GLONAST) guided bombs which are precise “smart” bombs.

Besides that how is it more humane to kill by a precise bomb than by a “dumb bomb” or “barrel bomb”. Gaza was bombed by the Israelis with (U.S. produced) smart bombs. That did not lead to less destruction or killing. The recent Saudi (U.S. produced) bomb on the Yemen wedding that killed 130 people was also “smart” and hit right where it was targeted at.

The Russians bombed, as I earlier described, mostly in the corridor up to the Turkish border which is in the hand of al-Qaeda, Ahrar al Shams and CIA mercenaries. It also bombed Raqqa, the Syrian capital of the Islamic State and killed a dozen fighters.

In response to that the Islamic State canceled Friday prayers in Raqqa seemingly out of fear that any congregation of IS fighters would now get bombed …. Funny. The U.S. claimed for a year that it was seriously bombing the Islamic State. But the Friday prayers have never be canceled before.

President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian state’s request of support from Federal Russia in combating terrorism flowing from all countries in the world, was logical and logical in its timing, since the US has been talking about an alliance against terrorism for months ago, but the US-led alliance had proven to be ineffective on the ground, Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban affirmed.

In an interview with Russia Today TV Channel on Wednesday, Shaaban added that the Russian vision carries a deep understanding of what is happening in Syria and the region, and that the terror poses a threat against the whole world, calling on everyone to listen to what Russian President Vladimir Putin is saying about Syria and the region.

She said if the West joins Russia’s awareness, it will recognize that fighting terrorism in Syria is a need for the region and the world.. But the problem is in the West’s late understanding of what is happening in Syria.

Airstrike by Russian fighter jets knocked out the HQ of DAESH and jihadist terrorist gang near Raqqa, command point and ammo depot destroyed near Idleb and Aleppo

Surgical airstrikes by Russian fighter jets have knocked out a number of Islamic State installations in Syria, including the battle headquarters of a jihadist group near Raqqa, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

“Over the past 24 hours, Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M fighter jets have performed 20 sorties and hit nine Islamic State installations,” Igor Konashenkov, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, reported.

Konashenkov added that yesterday evening Russian aircraft went on six sorties, inflicting strikes on three terrorist installations.

“A bunker-busting BETAB-500 air bomb dropped from a Sukhoi Su-34 bomber near Raqqa has eliminated the command post of one of the terror groups, together with an underground storage facility for explosives and munitions,” the spokesman said.

Russia selects the targets for its airstrikes in cooperation with the Syrian military, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president, told the media.

“We have a list of terrorist organizations. We know them,” he said.

Peskov said it was too early to assess the results of the bombing campaign. He added the operation would continue until a deadline, which coincides with “the end of the offensive operation of the Syrian army.”

He said Russian special services are working to thwart possible terrorist attacks, which Islamic State fighters may attempt in Russia as retaliation for the airstrikes.

The spokesman also urged confirming all information coming from Syria very carefully, because there was plenty of biased, distorted or patently false information coming from the region.

Russia has struck eight Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria, the country’s Defense Ministry said, adding that “civilian infrastructure” was avoided during the operations.

“Today, Russian aerospace force jets delivered pinpoint strikes on eight ISIS terror group targets in Syria. In total, 20 flights were made,” spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said.

“As a result, arms and fuel depots and military equipment were hit. ISIS coordination centers in the mountains were totally destroyed,” he added.

Konashenkov said that all the flights took place after air surveillance and careful verification of the data provided by the Syrian military. He stressed that Russian jets did not target any civilian infrastructure and avoided these territories.

“Russian jets did not use weapons on civilian infrastructure or in its vicinity,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Russian military announced the start of air operations in Syria in order to help the goverment fight terrorist forces.

The upper chamber of the Russian parliament has unanimously given a formal consent to President Putin to use the nation’s military in Syria to fight terrorism at a request from the Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Consent was necessary for use of the country’s military for foreign combat missions under the Russian constitution.

The request for use of force was sent by the president after considering the large number of citizens of Russia and neighboring countries, who went to join terrorist groups fighting in Syria, head of the presidential administration Sergey Ivanov told media. There are thousands of them, and Russia’s national security would be under threat, should they return home, he added.

Ivanov stressed that no ground operations are planned in Syria. Russia would use its warplanes to hit terrorist targets when requested by the Syrian government. He stressed that unlike the US-led coalition of countries that bombs militant troops in Syria, Russia was invited to do so by the legal authorities of Syria and thus follows international law.

The bombing campaign is time-limited, Ivanov said, not revealing a clear deadline for it. He said he was not authorized to disclose details of the operation such as the number of warplanes involved.

The Russian Air Force has conducted over 20 reconnaissance flights above the Deir Ezzur governorate in Eastern Syria, capturing footage of the ISIL terrorists’ movements through their strategic supply route between Deir Ezzur and Anbar governorate in Western Iraq, military sources said.

While conducting these flights above the Deir Ezzur governorate’s cities of Al-Mayadeen, Abukamaal, and Mohassan, the Russian air force repeatedly crossed the Iraqi border and entered the Anbar governorate, where they flew as far East as the city of Al-Heel to capture footage of the ISIL terrorist group, the Massdar website reported.

A lot of negative words have been said about Moscow’s role in the ongoing Syrian crisis by the US and its allies. Starting from August 2015 these claims took a new turn. Reports about Russian military buildup in Syria began. Unsupported by evidence, these reports continued throughout August and September.

Some of the reports speculated that Russian effort has been coordinated with Iran. These reports were linked to claims that Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution Quds Force, had visited Russia to discuss a joint Iranian-Russian strategy in Syria. Other reports claimed that Moscow’s moves were aimed at supporting an exhausted Hezbollah and to even rival Iranian influence in Syria. These reports, however, are nothing more than a misleading conjecture.

After being prevented by the US and other NATO members from using their airspace to deliver humanitarian cargo to the Syrians, Russia used an alternative route via Iran and Iraq. Unsupported reports soon began to claim that the government in Damascus was on the verge of collapse. Upping the ante, Washington began sounding the alarm bells about a Russian military buildup in Syria that reminded very much of the previous claims about an Iranian military buildup. What is very telling is that in parallel to these unsubstantiated reports, US, British, and French officials were all calling for Iran and Russia to bring the Syrian government to the negotiating table. What does this say about the situation?

When asked about Russia’s presence in the Arab country, Putin replied that as things stand now, Russia’s activities have been limited to supplying weapons to the Syrian government, training personnel and providing humanitarian aid for the Syrian people.

“We act based on the United Nations Charter, i.e. the fundamental principles of modern international law, according to which this or that type of aid, including military assistance, can and must be provided exclusively to the legitimate government of one country or another, upon its consent or request, or upon the decision of the United Nations Security Council,” said Putin.

Russia, Syria, Iran and Iraq have agreed to establish an information center in the Iraqi capital Baghdad to coordinate their operations against Daesh, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS-ISIL), terrorist organization.

The Joint Operations Command in Baghdad announced agreement with Moscow, Damascus and Tehran to establish a joint information center in the Iraqi capital to coordinate the anti-terrorism operations.

The main goal of the center will be gathering, processing and analyzing current information about the situation in the Middle East – primarily for fighting ISIS.

A senior leader of the Iraqi popular forces voiced concern about the consequences of the US military presence in battles against terrorists in al-Anbar province, and reiterated that his troops will not participate in joint operations with the Americans.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahamad Jamal announced on Wednesday that Baghdad has rejected Washington’s demand for the deployment of the US ground force to Iraq’s war against the ISIL.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his call for uniting efforts to fight terrorism which poses a threat to many states and millions of people around the world.

In an interview given to CBS, Putin said:

~~~ “Today, terrorism threatens a great number of states, a great number of people – hundreds of thousands, millions of people suffer from its criminal activity. And we all face the task of joining our efforts in the fight against this common evil,”adding that in this regard,”Russia has proposed cooperation to the countries in the region and is trying to establish some kind of coordination framework for it”.

Regarding the U.S. attempts to ~“train the combat part of the opposition forces”~ Putin noted that according to U.S. Senate hearings, the United States’ goal was to train up to 12,000 fighters, but only 60 of those fighters managed to complete the training and only four or five actually fought, while others fled to join ISIS, taking their American weapons with them.

Putin also criticized the arming and training of so-called ~“moderate opposition”~ by the West and the United States, saying that:

Yet, she added, the Western media, which has the most control of information, is trying to throw dust in the eyes “so that to provide a sort of cover for the retreat in the Western attitude.”

“Plenty of the statements made are for taking a turn and saving face,” she noted.

“There can’t be a political solution in Syria without eliminating terrorism,” Shaaban added.
