President Bashar al-Assad received (on 17/9/2017) participants in “The General Assembly for the Syriac Youth in Syria 2017” in the presence of Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Syriac Orthodox Mor Ignatius Aphrem II and a number of patriarchs.
The meeting also dealt with the necessity of the Christian existence in Syria, in general, and the Syriac presence, in particular, as they are a basic element in the Syrian national structure with assertion on their deeply-rooted role in the face of the continued displacement attempts they have encountered by terrorism and its supporters.
President al-Assad affirmed that such forums send a clear message to the inside and outside that the Christians are not guests or emigrant birds, but they are the basis of the homeland’s existence, and without them, there is no existence for the diverse Syria that we know, at the same time, the Christians without Syria have no land or existence for them… … …

“The real danger lies in whether the Christian world loses the last early Christians…the last ancient souls of the earth.”
Such is the dire prediction by one writer regarding the ongoing exodus of Arab Christians from the Middle East – an exodus triggered by Western neo-colonialism and Zionist expansion that suits the military-industrial complex……………..

In 2013, 5 young men were kidnapped from the ancient Christian town of Maloula, during the NATO and Gulf state funded, Nusra Front/Free Syrian Army-led invasion of this extraordinary hillside town, that still teaches the language of Christ in its schools, Aramaic. For the first six months, after their kidnap, their families remained in contact with the kidnappers among the Free Syrian Army or so called “moderates” & Nusra Front aka Al Qaeda, then communications ended abruptly.
These hopes were cruelly destroyed recently when the executed bodies of the 5 young men were found close to the Syrian border and were identified as the kidnap victims.
The Martyrs’ names are : Ghassan Michael Shnis, Atef Ragheb Kalomeh, Shady Michael Thalab, Daoud Sarkis Milaneh and Jihad Mtanios Thalab.
The grief and rage was palpable, both from those close family members walking with the coffins and from the people of Damascus who flocked onto the streets to pay their respects. United in the senseless loss of yet more young lives in this 6 year war bieng waged against Syria by U.S.-NATO and Gulf state regimes.
God bless the martyrs of Maloula and take their souls into peace and rest from the turmoil on earth.
Farewell brave souls….travel well into the light…you will never be forgotten.

Lebanese authorities returned the remains of 5 Syrian Christian citizens from Maaloula found across the borders.
The martyrs from Maloula, the predominantly Christian city in Damascus Countryside, were kidnapped by the US sponsored ‘Moderate Rebels’ before they converted into ‘Nusra Front’ upon raiding their city in 2013.
Marks of torture appeared were obvious on the bodies of the 5 men who were buried hastily on the Lebanese side of the Qalamon Mountain across the borders from Maloula.
Syrian officials received the bodies in a majestic procession, among them were the Governor, Police chief of Damascus Countryside and both Christian and Muslim leading clergy in the region…………………..

Christmas is celebrated on the 7th of January in the Gregorian Calendar. This date is observed by Orthodox Christians from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Greece, and a minority of Christians in African and Middle Eastern countries. This year, President Putin attended Christmas services at Yuriev Monastery, outside Novgorod. Every year, he attends a rural church of his choosing for this purpose. Meanwhile, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow held the official Orthodox Christmas ceremony at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, in Moscow. (We thanks Inessa Sinchougova for the translation)

This short documentary film Expulsion (Izgnanie), made for the Russian television channel Rossiia, focuses on the plight of Christians in war-torn Syria. This subject is worthy of greater attention than it has received in the mainstream Western media, hence our effort to subtitle this project.
After all, Christians are one the most persecuted groups in the world. Their depopulation is a general trend in the entire Middle East and North African region (MENA), not just in Syria.
This documentary states that, for instance, half of Palestine’s population was once Christian, but now only 5% remain. In Iraq, of the million and a half Christians prior to the U.S. invasion, only 10% are there today. In 2013, OSCE estimated that a Christian dies for his faith every 5 minutes.
[… … …]
It is under secular governments like that of Syria that different religious groups were able to peacefully coexist until recently. This documentary film and its participants reinforce this notion…

Al-Qaryatayn had been held by terrorist groups since late August. The liberation of the city proclaimed April 3 came days after Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) was pushed out of the ancient city of Palmyra, 100km (60 miles) to the east.
The jihadists apparently used a bulldozer to partially destroy St Elias Monastery, which dates back more than 1,500 years. Human bones from ancient graves are strewed amidst the rubble.
Inside the monastery there is an Assyrian church and all Christian symbols in it have been destroyed. In the church graveyard, the gravestones have been trashed and all the crosses removed.
Thankfully, the monastery’s beautiful old church is still standing, but has been severely desecrated. After an apparent attempt to set the building on fire from inside, the old beams look burnt and the floor is covered with burnt pages with texts in Assyrian from Christian holy books.
There is not one building left in Al-Qaryatayn that has escaped damage from the fighting.

One week after the attack on the house of the Missionaries of Charity in Aden, in Yemen, there is still no news of the Indian Salesian missionary Fr Tom Uzhunnalil.
In addition to the sisters, the driver and at least two other Ethiopian employees of the community were killed during the terrorist attack. The Mother Superior of the convent escaped. The elderly and disabled people housed at the community are all alive.
As yet, there is no news of Fr Uzhunnalil who has been residing at the Sisters’ convent since the Holy Family church in Aden was looted and set on fire by unidentified armed men last September.
Also 4 Missionary Sisters of Charity, the congregation founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta, were murdered by a group of armed men who attacked their convent, in the Yemeni city of Aden.

A GREAT REPORT AND DOCUMENTARY
In early 2015, a small Egyptian village was dealt a cruel blow.
ISIS [Daesh] killed 20 men from Al-Ur because they were Christian.
Now their families take comfort from their faith as they to come to terms with the loss.
The whole community honours the dead as martyrs, Christian and Muslim neighbours alike mourn their deaths and condemn the killers.
A few survived and are torn between survivor’s guilt and admiration for the courage shown by their fallen friends.
However hard times may be for this village, the community finds solace and pride in how the martyrs’ faith remained strong to the very end.

Reported by Gilad Atzmon ~ Commentators on modern Jewish history are often puzzled by the animosity of secular Jews toward gentiles. Particularly puzzling is the scale of Jewish ‘revolutionary’ violence towards Christianity and churches in particular. It is no secret that Bolshevism set many churches ablaze. The International Brigade followed a similar pattern in Spain (1936). It is an established fact that Yiddish was the lingua franca of the International Brigade that was formed following a tidal wave of Church burning by the Republicans. That act of barbarism didn’t seem to deter the salt of the Jewish Left who rushed to liberate Spain in the name of the ‘International’. And yet, historically, this kind of barbaric act was never associated with rabbinical Judaism.
Apparently, this is not the case anymore. In the Jewish State, Orthodox Jews do burn churches and they do it in the name of the Torah and in accordance with their interpretation of the Jewish religion.

Christian denominations in Syria, who follow the Western calendar, celebrated Easter, with celebrations limited to prayers and masses due to the circumstances in Syria and in honor of martyrs.
Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All East Gregory III Laham affirmed during the sermon that Christians of the East are unified despite the suffering visited on them by terrorists, adding that they are determined not leave their homeland.
Meanwhile in the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese, Primate of the Armenian Church of Damascus Bishop Armash Nalbandian urged in his Easter sermon the Syrians to pray to God “to bless our beloved homeland with peace, brotherhood and prosperity.”
The heads of Christian churches implored God to bless their homeland with security and safety and to bring to an end the suffering of the Syrians at the hands of terrorists, stressing that co-existence that distinguishes the Syrian people will enable them to achieve victory over their enemies.
They also hailed the unbreakable bonds binding the Syrians, pointing out that Syria will remain the homeland of love and peace.
On his sermon after the mass, Syriac Catholic Archbishop Kawak prayed to God to protect Syria and its Army and to achieve victory against terrorism.

While the Western-led, anti-Assad bloc mind-blowingly speaks of arming non-existent “moderates” to fight in Syria, they also continue to demonize and silence the very voices that offer a true means of bringing peace and stability back to the region.
Two of these voices are: Political and Media Adviser to President al-Assad, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban; and Syria’s highest Muslim official and scholar, Grand Mufti Dr. Ahmad Badr Al-Din Hassoun. Both are highly-educated and convey messages of dialogue, understanding, and peace. And both seemingly terrify the West, which has been quick to sanction and deny them visas, lest the anti-Syria lies and propaganda be challenged before a Western audience.
Mufti Hassoun calls his Greek Orthodox counterpart, Bishop Luca al-Khoury, his cousin and brother. “Our grandfathers, 1,400 years ago, were one family. My grandfather embraced Islam and his remained Christian.” He maintains that he, as Grand Mufti, serves the Syrian people, period. “In Syria, there are 23 million Christians, and 23 million Muslims. My title is Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, not the Mufti of a particular denomination.”
Political and Media Adviser to President al-Assad, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban: “Not only has the West backed and trained terrorists in Syria, the so-called “opposition” they hand-picked to represent Syrians can’t even pretend to do so. “They adopted personalities who haven’t lived in Syria for 30 years! Further, they took the wrong step in closing embassies, instead of communicating with us and observing from the ground. In the name of ‘democracy’ and ‘human rights’ they are destroying our country”.
“Syria was formerly one of the fastest developing countries in the world, and one of the safest. We have free education and health care. We did not know poverty; we grew our food and produced our own clothing. At universities, 55 percent of the students were women.” Already, these are points the West would prefer remain unheard, points which dispute the lies that Syrians were living in miserable oppression prior to the faux-revolution, and also which could not be said about NATO’s Gulf state allies.
“The souk of Aleppo was the most beautiful. It’s now rubble, they destroyed it. In whose interest is it to destroy this heritage? Who is the beneficiary of this? I’m sure if the American public knew the truth about what is happening in Syria they wouldn’t accept Syrian people being slaughtered”.
“I told them, ‘We have baths which are over 1,000 years old and still functioning. I studied Shelley: they didn’t have baths 800 years ago in England. We did, we were having baths and coffee,’” she relates with a laugh. “Stop calling for us to be civilized. We are civilized!”
On the note of religion, Shaaban embodies the secular coexistence that is Syria. “I’m a Muslim, but I feel am partly Christian. I visit (Christian towns of) Saydnaya and Ma’loula. I celebrate Christmas, because it is something that I feel. There is an Arabic proverb which says: ‘Differences don’t mean that you don’t love one another.’ We each have our own different ways of life.”
Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Hasakah slams Turkey for complicit in the abduction of dozens of Syrian Christians by DAESH
A prominent Syrian bishop says Turkey is complicit in the abduction of dozens of Syrian Christians by ISIL terrorists.
Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Hasakah-Nisibi said on Wednesday that Turkey is to blame for the recent abduction of at least 150 Assyrian Christians from villages in the border areas.
Jacques Behnan Hindo, who was speaking with the Vatican Radio, said Turkey is openly cooperating with ISIL Takfiri terrorists when it comes to transferring oil, wheat and cotton stolen by the terrorists.
“In the north, Turkey allows through lorries, Daesh (ISIL) militants, oil stolen from Syria, wheat and cotton. All of these can cross the border but nobody [from the Christian community] can pass over.”
He strongly criticized Turkey for its refusal to permit entry to the Christians who have been exposed to the threat of ISIL militants.

Terrorists of the DAESH (ISIS) captured 56 people from the villages of Tal Hermez, Tal Shamiram, located in the surrounding of Tal Tamr town in the countryside of Hasaka, northeastern Syria.
Local sources in the area said DAESH terrorists held captive at least 56 of the two villages’ residents and took them to an unidentified area.
Scores of families who fled the terrorism of DAESH in Hasaka province gathered in the courtyard of the Assyrian Church in Hasaka city, and the prevailing feelings around them are sorrow over what happened in their hometowns and fear for those who stayed behind.

Thousands of Iraqi Christians have established their own military group and are training to fight ISIL in the Nineveh Plains of northern Iraq, The Arab Source reported.
Iraq expert Sajad Jiyad: “The Assyrians want their land back and they – as well as the Turkmen and the Yazidis – are sending a message that: ‘We are going to come back and we are not going to leave our villages and towns and our cultures to be destroyed. We want to come back to our homes and, no matter what we face, we’re willing to fight and take that back.’ I think that is a positive message for the entire nation.”
Last year, ISIL captured Iraq’s largest Christian town, Qaraqosh, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee. The towns of Tal Kayf, Bartella and Karamlesh were also seized by the ‘jihadists’. It is estimated that over 100,000 Christians have been displaced in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region of northern Iraq because of the ISIL advance.
John Michael, a British-Assyrian in Iraq, told the Catholic Herald: “This is our last stand, if this fails then Christianity will be finished in Iraq”.
Before 2003, the number of Christians in Mosul was approximately 60,000 before the US army invaded Iraq in 2003 when the town’s Christian population has started to decrease rapidly.
